Loose Skin / A Side Effect of Losing Weight Quickly

"I lost about 150lbs in a year and a half, only problem now is that I have ALOT of loose skin. If there is anyone out there who knows how to firm up skin I would be greatly appreciative for your input.

I've been doing Pilates for a year and I feel wonderfully toned under all the skin, but it just doesn't look right. I'm young and I have moisturized my body everyday, but I'm looking for something more effective. If anyone has any advice, please help."

You will have a problem with massive weight loss (especially if it is fast). Somewhere within three months and a year, you will be able to see what the end result is. If it has been less than a year, wait. See how it tightens. Loose skin is often a side effect of losing weight quickly but there is still things you could try. A varied exercise program would help, incorporating both Cardiovascular work and weight training.

Losing weight gradually and exercising regularly should minimize the effects of this. Also, using a body firming cream can be helpful. While fitness experts used to believe that sit ups were the best way to get a flat stomach, they now know you’ll get better results if you work all the muscles in your stomach, sides and back – the core muscles – rather than just the one that helps you bend! Pilates is a fantastic workout for toning these core muscles, as are stability balls which you can buy from good sports shops or over the internet.

Here is a home remedy that helps tighten skin naturally

1 tsp vitamin E oil,
1 tbsp yogurt,
1 egg
mix well.

Massage mixture into desired area, let sit for 20 min then rinse off.

or you could try this one

1 beaten egg white massaged into skin, lay down and let dry about 20 min, rinse off with lukewarm water.

Finally, you might like to use a body-firming cream each day to help keep your skin supple and smooth.
