Iron in Your Diet

lron deficiency has been in the news for a long time. This condition can be prevented if you pay more attention to your diet. Simple eating habits can prevent iron deficiency.

Iron from meat as opposed to that from grains is more easily absorbed by your body.

Other ways to add iron:

· Occasionally cook in castiron cookware.

. Because animal protein increases the absorption of iron from your vegetables, eat beans or peas with your poultry and seafood.

. Consume a good source of Vitamin C during meals with bread and cereal. This helps improve the absorption of iron.

· Eat more red meat and chicken dark meat. Both are good iron sources.

It's recommended that long-term use of iron supplements be avoided. The possible iron overload can be dangerous to your body. (Sports Medicine Digest)
