Shaving Your Arteries

||
The deposit of fat on the walls of your arteries is an insidious process. Once the deposit is in place, it has always been considered a permanent fixture. Medical experts have recommended exercise and low-fat diets to slow down this ongoing process.
Now, however, doctors at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California, have developed a process known as transluminal atherectomy, a shaving away of fat deposits from artery walls. Shaving leaves the walls smooth (unlike the process of balloon inflation, which flattens deposits).
Since the walls are left smooth, doctors theorize there will be much less chance that any fat deposit will remain to cause a clot. Doctors have successfully performed this procedure on 11 people. SO far, up to 12 shavings per individual have been necessary to restore normal blood flow through an occluded vessel.
