In the movie, Amisha Patel played the role of a college girl in love with a man whom her father disapproves. Her lover is killed and Amisha is left mourning him. She however, meets a man who looks very much like her dead lover. Amisha rediscovers a new relationship with him and they also track down the killer of her former lover.
Amisha got the role because her family personally knew the Roshan family. When she was first offered the role, she refused it. It was then offered to Kareena Kapoor who backed out at the last minute. Rakesh Roshan approached Amisha once again and this time she agreed to do the movie. The film was a stupendous success and the Hrithik Roshan Amisha Patel pair seemed magical.
Hrithik Roshan Amisha Patel in Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage
The pair teamed up again in Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage (2002). The movie was a romantic melodrama. Amisha Patel and Hrithik Roshan played lovers who hide from Amisha’s conservative family. They take refuge in a boys’ hostel, with Amisha dressing up like a man. Her family, however, drags her back and beats up her lover. But Amisha convinces the family that she cannot live without her love. Her family agrees to the match and the two get engaged.
The movie was a major flop. It had none of the chemistry that the lead pair had exhibited in Kaho Na Pyar Hai. After this the two actors never teamed up for a movie.
Hrithik Roshan Amisha Patel – The Later Years
The reason they have stopped acting together seems to be because of the cold personal relations between the two. Amisha Patel has often expressed her anger over the fact that all the credit for the success of Kaho Na Pyar Hai went to Hrithik Roshan. She felt that she was sidelined when Hrithik became successful. Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage was directed by Vikram Bhatt.
