Quality is better than quantity
Urmila shot to fame with Rangeela and that was a turning point in her career. After Rangeela she did lots of complex and mature characters in Satya, Kaun, Jungle, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya etc that catapulted her to be known as a versatile actress and has established her abilities beyond doubt.
However Urmila is now going through a stagnant phase. She was last seen performing an item number in Company. Probably she has come to a point where potential filmmakers have no exhilarating roles to offer to her and she does not want insignificant roles. SeasonsIndia correspondent Sanyukta talks to Urmila about her future plans, her forthcoming movies and much much more.
Tell me Urmila why have you simply disappeared? Now a days you are no-where in the news and you have not given any releases also lately.

Urmila Turns  37
Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar, who became a rage after her RANGEELA performance in the 1995 film, turns one year older on 4th February. She becomes 37.
The dancing beauty of Bollywood, who will also be remembered for her critically acclaimed portrayal of the characters of psycho killers, is busy these days judging a show titled- 'Chak Dhoom Dhoom'.
Interestingly, it is speculated that the actor who has passed her peak years in B-town, knocked out the HISSS girl, Mallika Sherawat to become the judge of the show, media reports said. Read More

Career Milestones
Urmila Matondkar started her career as a child artist. Perhaps the best known of her early movies is Shekhar Kapur's Masoom in 1983. She made her adult debut as an actress with the film Bade Ghar Ki Beti. She next starred in the fantasy film Chamatkar, along with Shahrukh Khan.
She went on to frequently collaborate with film director Ram Gopal Verma, who is known for his thrillers. Her first film with him was Antham, which was a bilingual film and was titled as Drohi (1992 film) in (Hindi). She has also made her appearance in Doordarshan Serial Bible Ki Kahaniyan. Since then, she has starred in numerous subsequent RGV pictures, like Gaayam (Telugu), her 1995 musical hit Rangeela.
She played a star-struck dancer in the film, and received her first Filmfare Best Actress Award nomination for her performance in the film. What does friendship mean to you?
It's a beautiful relationship which you make for yourself.. unlike the relations you're born into by blood. I really believe that a man is known by the company he keeps.. it's very important to have friends who'll there with you till your dying day.
Who are your closest friends?
Manish Malhotra, Fardeen Khan, Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor, Kim Sharma and Sunita Menon are my friends from within the industry. Manish tops the list because we get along so well that often we complete each other's sentences. Even in silences, there's a bond. From outside the industry, there's Asmita, my college friend.
