Tom Hiddleston: I doubt I’ll play James Bond

Tom Hiddleston: I doubt I'll play James Bond

Tom Hiddleston has said doesn’t believe he will be the next James Bond. The actor is the popular favourite to take over from Daniel Craig, who starred in the last film, Sceptre.

“I don’t think that announcement is coming,” Hiddleston told a rowdy audience at the Wizard World Comic Con in Philadelphia last weekend. “I am very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. Your guess is as good as mine, to be honest.”

Hiddleston was first linked with the role after his appearance in The Night Manager, the BBC spy drama based on the novel by John le Carré. The show, in which the actor played an MI5 operative who wears a tux and orders martinis, was directed by In a Better World’s Susanne Bier. She is one a handful of directors rumoured to be taking over from Sam Mendes on the 25th Bond film.

While Craig has not officially left the franchise, he told Time Out magazine he would “rather slash my wrists” than play Bond again. Other actors linked to the role include Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Damian Lewis.

Hiddleston, while expressing enthusiasm about the prospect, has repeatedly shot down rumours that he has signed on to play the spy. ‘The thing is, the position isn’t vacant, as far as I am aware. No one has talked to me about it,” he told Graham Norton in May.

“I think the rumours have all come about because in the Night Manager I play a spy and people have made the link.”

Mendes, who directed Skyfall and Spectre, both box-office successes, has said that the next Bond will not be someone the audience expects. “It’s not a democracy,” he said at the Hay literary festival last month, after announcing his retirement from the franchise. “It’s not The X Factor, it’s not the EU referendum, it’s not a public vote. [Producer] Barbara Broccoli chooses who’s going to be the next Bond. End of story.”

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris Split: What Went Wrong

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris Split: What Went Wrong

It seemed like a match made in musical heaven. When Taylor Swift and Scottish DJ and super-producer Calvin Harris began dating 15 months ago, they quickly became one of the most enviable celebrity couples ever to grace social media.

Though rumors of a romance first began when they were spotted getting close at Kenny Chesney’s Nashville concert in March last year, social proof of their love started with Harris, 32, first posting pictures of Swift’s beloved cats last April.

The duo then made their official outing as a couple at the Billboard Music Awards one month later. They were also spotted that same month having a romantic dinner date at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica wearing matching all-black ensembles. Swift, 26, “seemed incredibly happy but also very at ease with Calvin,” an onlooker said at the time.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, the duo cemented their love on Instagram when the “Shake It Off” singer shared an adorable shot of her boyfriend carrying her on his back, captioning it “Friendly relations between Scotland and America.”

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris Split: What Went Wrong

“There’s a whole bunch of times when we’ve been hanging out and nobody’s caught it,” Harris told KISS FM UK that month. “You know, it’s not like every single time we go out we get a photograph taken of us. That’s not the case. But for me, though, it could be a lot worse and I’d still be like insanely happy with her so I’m good with it.”

The good times seemingly continued for the couple throughout the rest of the year, with Harris growing close to Swift’s tight-knit family. Over the holidays, the couple spent time with Swift’s parents and her younger brother Austin in Vail, Colorado, where they dined out at Zach’s Cabin and built snowmen in the winter wonderland.

Celebrating their one-year anniversary in March, Swift and Harris set social media ablaze with romantic snaps from paradise. Both the entertainers shared sexy shots from their ultra-private getaway in the Caribbean, sparking vacation FOMO across the nation. “That time we finally took a vacation,” the 1989 hitmaker wrote on one post.

“When she was on tour last year, he really missed her and it wasn’t easy,” a source told PEOPLE after their anniversary. “Of course they love each other, but they are not the type of people to rush down the altar.”

Swift – who rarely opens up about her romantic relationships in interviews – also addressed her relationship with Harris for the first time in the spring.

At the iHeartRadio Music Awards in April, she publicly gave him a shout out during her acceptance speech, saying, “For the first time I had the most amazing person to come home to when the crowds were all gone and the spotlight went out, so I’d like to thank my boyfriend Adam for that,” she said, referring to Harris by his real name, Adam Richard Wiles.

She also touched upon their “magical romance” in the April issue of Vogue. “I’m just taking things as they come,” she told the magazine. “I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key … this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”

So what caused a seemingly picturesque romance to go south? Indeed, both stars have had equally demanding work schedules keeping them apart. In January 2015, Harris struck a three-year residency gig to DJ at Las Vegas clubs at the MGM Grand and Caeser’s Palace. He’s also a highly sought after producer, whose current hit with Rihanna, “This is What You Came For” recently hit No. 9 on the Billboard charts.

Meanwhile, Swift was on tour for seven months last year and has been busy with work commitments this spring, including co-chairing the Met Ball last month. The star attended the event with her pals, and was again solo when she picked up an award at the 2016 BMI Pop Awards later in the month.

Johnny Depp’s Romantic History: Amber Heard, Winona Ryder, Kate Moss, Vanessa Paradis, and More

Johnny Depp’s Romantic History: Amber Heard, Winona Ryder, Kate Moss, Vanessa Paradis, and More

Team Wino Forever! Before his rocky marriage to Amber Heard made headlines, Johnny Depp went through a slew of high-profie relationships and broken engagements to such famous women as Winona Ryder and Jennifer Grey. During his 30-plus years in the spotlight, he romanced several costars and much-younger ladies.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 52, is currently going through a messy split with the Danish Girl actress, 30, who filed for divorce on Monday, May 23, after 15 months of marriage. Depp reportedly asked the judge to deny her claim for spousal support. And a few days later, Heard allegedly filed a domestic violence restraining order against Depp and brought a photo of her bruised face to court as evidence, according to TMZ. A source tells Us Weekly the restraining order was granted immediately because the amount of evidence was overwhelming.

Here’s a look back at the A-lister actor’s most famous — and infamous relationships.

Lori Anne Allison

Before Heard was even born, Depp tied the knot for the first time with makeup artist Lori Anne Allison in 1983. The future superstar was just 20 years old at the time, and Allison was the sister of one of his bandmates. The couple divorced two years later in 1985, but the marriage did give Depp his first big break in Hollywood. Allison’s friendship with Nicolas Cage helped him land his first major acting gig in 1984’s horror classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Johnny Depp’s Romantic History: Amber Heard, Winona Ryder, Kate Moss, Vanessa Paradis, and More

Sherilyn Fenn

Depp met future Twin Peaks actress Sherilyn Fenn on the set of the 1985 student film Dummies. She even made an appearance on a 1987 episode of Depp’s TV show, 21 Jump Street. They were reportedly engaged, but went their separate ways after three and a half years.

Jennifer Grey

Another broken engagement. The Golden Globe nominee popped the question to the Dirty Dancing star in the late ‘80s, but the couple called off the wedding shortly after.

Winona Ryder

The actor-producer met Winona Ryder for the first time at the premiere for 1989’s Great Balls of Fire! when the actress was only 17. In 1990, they costarred in Edward Scissorhands, and Depp later proposed to Ryder. He was so in love that he opted for a “Winona Forever” tattooed on his arm. When they called it quits in 1993, he famously altered it to say “Wino Forever,” as it still reads today. Ryder recalled the end of their relationship in an interview with Elle UK in 2009 and called it “my first real breakup, the first heartbreak.”

Kate Moss

Fashionable couple! Depp first hooked up with the then 20-year-old supermodel in 1994. During their romance, the Black Mass star was arrested for allegedly trashing a hotel room at the Mark Hotel in NYC. When police entered, they reportedly found the couple sitting amid debris.

“There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit,” Moss told Vanity Fair in 2012 of their relationship and subsequent breakup in 1998. “Like if I said, ‘What do I do?,’ he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left. I really lost the gauge of somebody I could trust. Nightmare. Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!”

Ellen Barkin

Always an age difference. Depp briefly dated Ellen Barkin, who is 9 years older than the actor, in 1994, and the short-lived couple made several red carpet appearances together.

Vanessa Paradis

His longest love! Depp and French model, actress and singer Vanessa Paradis were together for 14 years. Although the pair never married, they share daughter Lily-Rose, 17, and son Jack, 14. In 2010, Depp explained to Extra why they never walked down the aisle. “I never found myself needing that piece of paper,” he said. “Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don’t need somebody to say, okay you’re married. … If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not. But the thing is, I’d be so scared of ruining her last name. She’s got such a good last name.”

He opened up to Rolling Stone about the split in 2013. “It wasn’t easy on [Paradis]. It wasn’t easy on me. It wasn’t easy on the kids,” he said. “It doesn’t stop the fact that you care for that person, and they’re the mother of your kids, and you’ll always know each other, and you’re always gonna be in each other’s lives because of those kids. You might as well make the best of it.”

Washington and friends snapped a smiling group pic to kick off the night before piling into an elevator (where they posed for another cute shot) to catch a bite at Mr Chow at Caesar’s Palace.

Washington, who shared a colorful snapshot of Lopez’s bombastic live performance, went backstage after the show where she posed for press photos with the “Ain’t Your Mama” singer.

The 39-year-old actress and her squad snapped some pics together after the show, where Washington flaunted her growing baby bump in her sultry, elegant black gown.

Washington then kicked things up a notch, posing atop one of the show’s main set pieces — a giant, mirrored crescent moon.

“Tonight I got to go from The Bronx to the moon and then back again,” Washington captioned the stunning snap. “Thank you @jlo… Good night Vegas.”

The connection between Washington and Lopez goes way back — even before they were both famous! The Emmy-nominated star revealed in 2014 that both she and Jennifer Lopez grew up in the Bronx and even went to the same local Boys & Girls Club.

It was there that the future American Idol judge and pop superstar taught her a few dance moves. For more on their surprising intersecting past relationship, check out the video below.

Emily Blunt to star in Mary Poppins Returns

Emily Blunt to star in Mary Poppins Returns

It’s official! Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda will star together in Disney’s upcoming Mary Poppins live-action adaptation, Mary Poppins Returns.

Blunt has been cast as Mary Poppins and Miranda will play a new character, a street lamplighter named Jack. The film will take place in Depression-era London (when the books were originally written) and will follow a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks along with Michael’s three children. After suffering a personal loss, the family is visited by Mary Poppins and Jack who help them rediscover the joys and excitement within the magic of life.

While some people were a bit skeptical of the new film, this casting could change their minds. In fact, here are 8 reasons Blunt and Miranda are the perfect pair for Mary Poppins Returns.

Emily Blunt to star in Mary Poppins Returns

About Marry Poppins Returns

Disney is bringing Mary Poppins back to the big screen. No, she isn’t leaving the infamous Disney vault. The magical nanny will come back to life in a new, original, live-action adaptation that will be directed by Into the Woods’ Rob Marshall.

The updated version will take place during the 1920s Depression era in London, which is about 20 years after Disney’s classic Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews. While the Disney classic focused on the first installment of author P.L. Travers’ eight-book series, this movie, which is not a sequel, will focus on Mary’s further adventures with the Banks family.

But you can’t just bring a classic film back to life without some serious backlash. Twitter is absolutely pissed about the idea of Disney messing with Andrews’ famous character. People were furious about Jumanji, but those people had nothing on what’s being said about Disney’s billionth live-action film. Haven’t the people in Burbank, Calif., ever heard the expression, “Don’t fix what isn’t broken”??

Sienna Miller reveals she still cares about Jude Law “eEnormously”

Sienna Miller reveals she still cares about Jude Law "eEnormously"

It’s been over a decade since she was first engaged to Jude Law, but the torrid years that followed have not waned Sienna Miller’s feelings for her former beau.

As the Hollywood story goes, the Golden Globe nominee and her Alfie co-star were on the road to marriage in 2004, but a year after their Christmas engagement, Law publicly apologized to the actress after reports surfaced that he had been having an affair with his nanny. The couple subsequently split in 2006. The two tried to rekindle their romance in 2009, only to break up again by 2011.

Today, Miller says she doesn’t see her past beau “that much,” but told PORTER magazine, “I care about him enormously.”

Nearly a year ago, the star broke off her engagement to actor Tom Sturridge, whom she had been dating since 2011 and with whom she shares her only child, 3-year-old daughter Marlowe Sturridge. While the 34-year-old calls her past boyfriends, including Law and Sturridge, “a motley crew,” she does recognize the trait that ties them all together.

Sienna Miller reveals she still cares about Jude Law "eEnormously"

“I like intelligence,” she continued to the magazine. “It’s the only thing I’ve ever been attracted to. People who aren’t clever enough fall by the wayside. They’re a motley crew my ex-boyfriends, if you lined them up, it would be strange. I don’t care about that [looks], but you know, within limits… Someone staggeringly beautiful and thick is totally ugly to me. It sounds silly but I like bookish academics who are slightly odd, and borderline, you know, on the spectrum.”

In the meantime, the acclaimed star has a packed schedule of new films, one of which is taking her to New York City for the fall to live and raise her daughter. In regard to the possibility of having more children, Miller is definitely interested.

“I would love more,” she admitted to the magazine. “I’m suddenly feeling very broody for more babies, and my daughter’s desperate to have a sibling.”

In fact, Miller is more in tune with herself and her decisions after an intense recent round of therapy. According to the star, all the noise that was once in her head is now gone.

“I just got to a point where…I couldn’t dig myself out, I couldn’t make decisions, I felt pretty assaulted by life and not in control,” she revealed. “I think as you get older you have to really cultivate your mind and have a deep understanding of self, otherwise you just become lonely and isolated and unsatisfied and unfulfilled, and however your perfect little life looks on paper, there will be a sense of unfulfillment if you haven’t explored the nature, the very depths of who you are.”

Perhaps it’s that kind of courage that has caused co-star Bradley Cooper to describe her as a little Napoleon. “I stand up for myself,” she said. “That’s what he’s referring to.”

Amber Heard Really Blackmailed Johnny Depp?

Amber Heard Really Blackmailed Johnny Depp?

Amber Heard’s lawyer is slamming an accusation that the actress is blackmailing her estranged husband Johnny Depp.

Attorney Peter Sample told The Wrap Monday that the “allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false.” The claim that she is blackmailing Johnny “has no basis in reality and is nothing but the typical celebrity muckraking for profit.” The lawyer also told the publication that the claims against Amber are defamatory and “outrageous.”

In case you missed it, comedian Doug Stanhope penned a column that was posted on The Wrap Sunday where he voiced his support for his friend Johnny. In the lengthy post, Doug claimed that “Amber was now going to leave him, threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms. Blackmail is what I would imagine other people might put it, including the manner in which he is now being vilified.”

Amber Heard Really Blackmailed Johnny Depp?

The column, however, comes just two days after Amber was granted a domestic violence restraining order against her soon-to-be ex-husband after alleging abuse and showing up to a Los Angeles courtroom with a visible bruise on her face. In court documents obtained by E! News, Amber also alleged that “during the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me.”

While Johnny has not directly addressed the accusations made by Amber, his rep released a statement shortly after the couple filed for divorce. “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” Johnny’s rep told E! News. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

As for Amber, a source close to the model recently provided a glimpse into how she is doing as the divorce drama continues. “This has been incredibly upsetting for Amber but she knows she is doing the right thing,” our source shared with E! News. “It has been very traumatic for her to finally speak out, but she needs to do what she can to protect herself.”

Film-makers defend Keira Knightley

Film-makers defend Keira Knightley

Mark Romanek, Lorene Scafaria and Lynn Shelton tweet support for actor after John Carney said he would ‘never make a film with supermodels again’.

Major directors have shown their support for Keira Knightley after she was criticised by the director John Carney over their collaboration on Begin Again.

Mark Romanek, who directed the actor in Never Let Me Go, wrote on Twitter that working with Knightley was “utterly spectacular”. Meanwhile, Lorene Scafaria, Knightley’s director for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, said she was “just lovely” and Say When director Lynn Shelton also referred to the actor as “magnificent”.

Review for Begin Again

After Inside Llewyn Davis, here’s Outside Keira Knightley. John Carney’s latest tale of random hearts brought together by song may not have the rough-and-ready brilliance of Once (or a tune to match Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová’s Oscar winning Falling Slowly) but it does a surprisingly good job of making us believe in the slightly preposterous idea of KK recording an album on the streets of New York.

Begin Again Movie - Keira Knightley

Knightley plays Greta, a singer-songwriter stumbling from a recently stalled relationship with a corporate sell-out rocker (Maroon 5’s Adam Levine), who catches the drunken eye/ear of washed-up A&R man Dan (a typically ruffled Mark Ruffalo). Hearing in her hesitant open-mic strummings the makings of a full-blown hit (Carney brilliantly revisits the opening downbeat performance to dramatise an imaginary upbeat orchestration), Dan attempts to sign Greta to the label from which he has recently been dumped. But when her indie integrity reawakens his own long-lost musical passion, the odd couple embark on a series of makeshift pavement and rooftop recording sessions in which the natural sounds of NYC (sirens, trash cans, car-horns) become an integral part of the endearingly skiffled songs.

With original music co-written by New Radicals frontman Gregg Alexander (the songs are serviceable, if not spine-tingling), Carney’s bigger-than-before budget feature still retains a distinctively ramshackle charm. Knightley and Ruffalo are nicely natural as the increasingly idealistic musos who discover that a song can save your life, their streetwise story mutating into an anti-establishment fairytale with added exhaust fumes. I found it moving, funny and really rather charming, provoking more than enough laughter and tears to dispel my underlying anxieties about the “live” performances.
