JIM BALLANTINE (Producer) began working at Disney in 1988 as production administrator on the hit animated feature “The Little Mermaid.” He then became a producer in feature animation development at the studio and supervised CGI production for “The Rescuers Down Under” and “The Prince & the Pauper.”
From 1992-1995 Ballantine worked on Nickelodeon Nicktoons' “The Ren & Stimpy Show,” first as associate producer and later as producer. During his tenure the series was nominated for two Emmy® Awards for Outstanding Animated Series and a CableACE Award in the category of Best Animated Series. Prior to producing “Ren & Stimpy,” Ballantine worked on “Family Dog” for Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment.
With Vanessa Coffey, Ballantine launched King World Kids, which created animation, live-action and Internet content for network, cable and syndication. While at King World, Ballantine and Coffey created a new live-action television show based on “The Little Rascals,” and developed “Take Five,” a teen reality series for CBS.
Ballantine recently executive produced “Doodlezoo” for the Discovery Kids Network, a show that uses a unique mix of live-action animal footage and animation, as well as the 3-D computer animation series “Rayman,” based on the Ubi Soft video game. He is recently worked as a Producer on DisneyToon Studios' “Brother Bear 2.”
A native of Hawaii, Ballantine graduated Magna cum laude from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and spent several years in live theater as a producer and director in Seattle, San Francisco and at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. He also worked on the 1984 Olympic Arts Festival and the 1987 Los Angeles Festival.
