Keira Knightley: Ignorance Is Bliss

Keira Knightley is gorgeous. Not only that, she's a pretty darn fine actress too! And if you needed any more proof of that, why not go and see those Pirates of the Caribbean.

It was great, it was quite scary. I’ve never done a sequel before and I've always said of any of the characters that I've played that - if I played them now - I'd play them completely differently. It was weird trying to find a continuity with a character that I'd played when I was 17. We had big problems because she was quite black and white in the first film, very strait-laced, and we couldn't really see how to carry her on – so, we went off into a grungier look for he. That was really exciting - taking the character and making her grow up. Read the Interview

Elle Magazine Cover Story

If Hillary Clinton still needs further evidence that the entirety of Generation Y isn't suffering from indolence, a grossly out-of-whack sense of entitlement, and Xbox-triggered carpal tunnel syndrome, she might want to consider the saga of Keira Knightley.

Raised in a London suburb by her dad, theater and TV actor Will Knightley, and her actress-turned-playwright mother, Sharman Macdonald, Knightley famously informed her parents that she'd like to get an agent…at the ripe age of three. Read the Interview

Meteoric Rise to Stardom

Even by Hollywood standards, Keira Knightley's rise to stardom has been meteoric. For this she has to thank her role as a soccer-mad tomboy in Brit smash Bend It Like Beckham, and now the 18-year-old has returned to Blighty to take a role in Love Actually, the new comedy from the makers of Four Weddings and Notting Hill..

So what was it like making the movie?

Keira Knightley: "I laughed my way through the whole thing - I never stopped laughing. In our scenes it was me and Chiwetel Ejiofor and Andrew Lincoln. Andy is fantastic and Chewy is one of the most exciting British actors around at the moment. It was really exciting to get the chance to work with two people I admired so much - Read the interview

And the rest of the boys - Clive Owen, Ray Winstone, Ioan Gruffudd, director Antoine Fuqua and the rest - will tell you to a man that the beautiful Ms Knightley is a formidable force to be reckoned with when it comes to the rough and tumble of a big action adventure film set. Read the interview

The Year 2003: Here Comes Keira Knightley

After taking headers in the sleeper hit ''Bend It Like Beckham,'' the English actress traded in her soccer shorts for something more, uh, constricting -- that corset she keeps griping about in the trailer for July's ''Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.'' Read the article

Talking to the Brit Babe About Playing the Lovely Guinevere

A year and a half ago, few people knew who Keira Knightley was. What a difference one breakout hit and one monster summer blockbuster can make. In Bend it Like Beckham, Knightley played Jules, a soccer player who befriended a young Indian girl named Jeff (Parminder Nagra) and convinced her that she could overcome her family's restrictions and join the team. Beckham hit U.S. theaters in early 2003 and was soon followed by the runaway success of Pirates of the Caribbean, in which Knightley starred opposite Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. She capped a banner year in one of the shorts featured in the romantic comedy Love Actually. Read the interview

Cosmopolitan Exclusive Interview

"A guy in the airport came up to me and said, 'Can I kiss you?' I let him."

With three hit movies -- Bend It Like Beckham, Pirates of the Caribbean and Love Actually -- already under her belt and King Arthur out this month, Keira Knightley is the biggest English sensation since, well, Becks

Hollywood is teeming with teen celebs these days, but Keira Knightley is hardly your average young starlet. That became apparent the moment the gorgeous 19-year-old walked into a coffee shop (on time) near her Richmond Upon Thames, England, home, wearing baggy jeans and an old, oversize sweater that didn't expose even a sliver of skin, her rich, chocolate-brown hair haphazardly thrown back in a clip. And then there's the new set of fringe framing her fine-boned face, which she explains is a last-ditch effort to cover up the spots (Brit-speak for acne) on her forehead. Read the interview

Talking Pride and Prejudice

Keira Knightley has really had an impressive career for someone who is so young. That is really the most striking thing about her. She's just turned twenty and has the demeanor of someone still flush with youth. She's had a pretty busy year and continues full steam ahead. She's currently shooting the sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean. Read the interview

Keira Knightley Talks Domino

Keira Knightley has a lot going on in her professional life these days. What with promoting not one but two new movies, and shooting another two simultaneously, the pretty 20-year old Brit could be forgiven for being a tad tired.

Yet the young actress remains good humoured despite an exhausting work schedule, which includes having worked late on the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequel till the wee hours of the morning. Read the interview

I Really Enjoy Action!

How do you deal with your new star status?

Keira Knightley: Well, so far I've been working so much that I haven't realized how much my status had changed. Being on the set of the film is like being away, in a protective bubble, cut from the reality of the outside world. Very early, I learned not to read what's written about you. Read the interview
