![]() When his athletic career was cut short by an injury, he turned to a career as a professional stockbroker and eventually found a career in modeling and acting. This led to his co-founding of the Phunk Phenomenon Urban Dance Theater Company, whose mission has been "to use the art of dance as a catalyst for youth outreach."? The company has grown far beyond White's expectations, to encompass national collaborations with the likes of MTV, the NFL, the NBA, Run-DMC, Alvin Ailey and Radio Disney.
White has appeared in more than a dozen feature films, including Brick, Redemption, Mr. 3000, DOA: Dead or Alive, The Family Stone, Daddy's Little Girls, Stomp the Yard and The Game Plan, and was last seen in 12 Rounds. On television, he has appeared in the movie specials Something to Sing About, Nancy Drew, RPM and The Lone Ranger. He was also a series regular on Spyder Games, Moesha, Second Time Around, Football Wives and Moonlight, and starred as Detective Tavon Garris on the Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated The Shield.
In January 2010, he will appear in a series-regular role alongside television veterans Ray Romano, Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula in the new TNT drama series Men of a Certain Age.
