“Enjoy the Silence” is a song by the English electronic band Depeche Mode, taken from their seventh studio album, Violator (1990). The song was recorded in 1989 and released on 16 January 1990 as the album’s second single.

The single is Gold certificated in the US and Germany. The song won Best British Single at the 1991 BRIT Awards. It has been recorded by many other artists, including Tori Amos, Anberlin, Failure, Breaking Benjamin, Hybrid and Keane.

“Enjoy the Silence” was re-released as a single in 2004 for the Depeche Mode remix project Remixes 81–04, and was titled “Enjoy the Silence (Reinterpreted)” or, more simply, “Enjoy the Silence 04”.

There are two instrumental B-sides to “Enjoy the Silence”. “Sibeling” (the 12″ B-side) is a soft piano-tune while “Memphisto” (the 7″ B-side) is a darker, eerier track. The title of “Sibeling” refers to Finnish classical composer Jean Sibelius. According to Martin Gore, “Memphisto is the name of an imaginary film about Elvis as a Devil, that I created in my mind”.

Enjoy the Silence Lyrics by Depeche Mode

Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can’t you understand?
Oh my little girl
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
Vows are spoken
To be broken
Feelings are intense
Words are trivial
Pleasures remain
So does the pain
Words are meaningless
And forgettable
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm
All I ever wanted
All I ever needed
Is here in my arms
Words are very unnecessary
They can only do harm

Enjoy the silence

Duran Duran – Lyrics for Notorious

Duran Duran are an English new wave / synthpop band formed in Birmingham in 1978. They were a successful band of the 1980s and a leading band in the MTV-driven “Second British Invasion” of the US. Since the 1980s, they have placed 14 singles in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart and 21 in the Billboard Hot 100, and have sold over 70 million records.

While they were generally considered part of the New Romantic scene, along with bands such as Spandau Ballet, when they first emerged, the band later shed this image. The band worked with fashion designers to build a sharp and elegant image. The band has won a number of awards throughout their career: two Brit Awards including the 2004 award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, two Grammy Awards, and an MTV Video Music Award for Lifetime Achievement. They were also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The band’s controversial videos, which included partial nudity and suggestions of sexuality, became popular in the early 1980s on the then-new music video channel, MTV. Duran Duran were among the first bands to have their videos shot by professional directors with 35 mm film movie cameras, which gave their videos a much more polished look than was standard at the time. In 1984, the band were early innovators with video technology in their live stadium shows.

The group was formed by keyboardist Nick Rhodes and bassist John Taylor, with the later addition of drummer Roger Taylor, and after numerous personnel changes, guitarist Andy Taylor and lead singer Simon Le Bon. These five members featured in their most commercially successful line-up.

The group has never disbanded, but after separation of Andy Taylor in 1986, the line-up has changed to include former Missing Persons American guitarist Warren Cuccurullo from 1989 to 2001 and American drummer Sterling Campbell from 1989 to 1991. The reunion of the original five members in the early 2000s created a stir among the band’s fans and music media. Andy Taylor left the band once again in mid-2006, and guitarist Dom Brown has since been working with the band as a session player and touring member.

Duran Duran - Lyrics for Notorious

Duran Duran – Lyrics for Notorious

No-no-Notorious. Notorious. Ah. No-no-Notorious.

I can’t read about it.
Burns the skin from your eyes.
I’ll do fine without it.
Here’s one you don’t compromise.
Lies come hard in disguise.
They need to fight it out.
Not wild about it.
Lay your seedy judgements.
Who says they’re part of our lives?

[CHORUS]
You own the money ;
You control the witness.
I’ll leave you lonely.
Don’t monkey with my business.
You pay the prophets to justify your reasons.
I heard your promise,but I don’t believe it.

That’s why I’ve done it again. No-no-Notorious.

Girls will keep the secrets (uh)
So long as boys make a noise.
Fools run rings to break up.
Something they’ll never destroy.
Grand Notorious slam (bam).
And who really gives a damn for a flaky bandit?
Don’t ask me to bleed about it;
I need this blood to survive.

[CHORUS]

That’s why I’ve done it again. No-no-Notorious.

[CHORUS]

[CHORUS]

That’s why I’ve done it again. No. No.
That’s why I’ve done it again. No-no-Notorious.
That’s why I’ve done it again. No-no-Notorious.
No-no-Notorious. Yeah.
That’s why I’ve done it again. No-no-Notorious.
No-no-Notorious. Yeah.
That’s why I’ve done it again. No-no-Notorious.
No-no-Notorious.

Flashdance... What a Feeling Movie and Song Lyrics

Flashdance Movie

Flashdance is a 1983 American romantic drama film directed by Adrian Lyne. It was the first collaboration of producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer and the presentation of some sequences in the style of music videos was an influence on other 1980s films, including Top Gun (1986),

Simpson and Bruckheimer’s most famous production. Flashdance opened to negative reviews by professional critics, but was a surprise box office success, becoming the third highest grossing film of 1983 in the United States. It had a worldwide box-office gross of more than $100 million. Its soundtrack spawned several hit songs, among them “Maniac” performed by Michael Sembello and the Academy Award–winning “Flashdance… What a Feeling”, performed by Irene Cara, which was written for the film.

Irene Cara – Flashdance… What A Feeling

First when there’s nothing
But a slow glowing dream
That your fear seems to hide
Deep inside your mind

All alone, I have cried
Silent tears full of pride
In a world made of steel
Made of stone

Well, I hear the music
Close my eyes, feel the rhythm
Wrap around, take a hold of my heart

What a feeling
Being’s believing
I can have it all
Now I’m dancing for my life

Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life

Now I hear the music
Close my eyes, I am rhythm
In a flash, it takes hold of my heart

What a feeling, being’s believing
I can have it all
Now I’m dancing for my life

Take your passion
And make it happen
Pictures come alive
Now I’m dancing through my life

What a feeling

What a feeling (I am music now)
Being’s believing (I am rhythm now)
Pictures come alive
You can dance right through your life

What a feeling (I can really have it all)
What a feeling
(Pictures come alive when I call)
I can have it all (I can really have it all)

Have it all (pictures come alive when I call)
(Call, call ,call, call, what a feeling)
I can have it all (being’s believing)
Being’s believing (take your passion)
(Make it happen) Make it happen
(What a feeling) What a feeling

Endless Love Movie and Song Lyrics

“Endless Love” is a song written by Lionel Richie and originally recorded as a duet between Richie and fellow soul singer Diana Ross. In this ballad, the singers declare their “endless love” for one another. It was covered by soul singer Luther Vandross with pop singer Mariah Carey and also by country music singer Shania Twain. Richie’s friend (and sometimes co-worker) Kenny Rogers has also recorded the song. Billboard has named the original version as the greatest song duet of all-time.

Ross and Ritchie recorded the song for Motown, and it was used as the theme for the Franco Zeffirelli’s film Endless Love. Produced by Richie and arranged by Gene Page, it was released as a single from the film’s soundtrack in 1981. While the film Endless Love was a modest box-office success, the song became the second biggest-selling single of the year (first was “Bette Davis Eyes” by Kim Carnes) in the U.S. and reached number 1 on the Hot 100, where it stayed for nine weeks from August 15 to October 10, 1981. It also topped the Billboard R&B chart and the Adult Contemporary chart, and reached number 7 in the UK.

The soulful composition became the biggest-selling single of Ross’ career, and her 18th and final career number-one single (including her work with The Supremes). It also was Ritchie’s highest charting single, and the first of several hits for Ritchie during the 1980s. Ross recorded a solo version of the song for her first RCA Records album, Why Do Fools Fall in Love, the duet version being her last hit on Motown. The song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for Ritchie, and was the second song with which Ross was involved that was nominated for an Oscar. It also won a 1982 American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Single.

Endless Love Movie and Song Lyrics

Endless Love 1081 Movie

Endless Love is a 1981 romantic drama film based on the 1979 novel of the same name by Scott Spencer. The film is directed by Franco Zeffirelli and stars Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt. The screenplay was written by Judith Rascoe. The original music score was composed by Jonathan Tunick.

The film was released in July 1981 and received negative reviews, with critics comparing it unfavourably to the novel. Spencer disliked it, believing the filmmakers to have missed the point of the book. The film was a moderate box-office success, and its theme song, performed by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie and also called “Endless Love”, became a #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It spent 9 weeks at #1 and received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for “Best Original Song”, along with 5 Grammy nominations.

Endless Love Lyrics

My love, there’s only you in my life
The only thing that’s right

My first love,
You’re every breath that I take
You’re every step I make

And I, I
I want to share
All my love with you
No one else will do

And your eyes
Your eyes, your eyes
They tell me how much you care
Ooh yes, you will always be
My endless love

Two hearts, two hearts that beat as one
Our lives have just begun

Forever (oh) I’ll hold you close in my arms
I can’t resist your charms

And love oh, love
I’ll be a fool for you I’m sure
You know I don’t mind
Oh, you know I don’t mind

‘Cause you,
You mean the world to me
Oh I know
I’ve found in you
My endless love

Oh, and love oh, love
I’ll be that fool for you I’m sure
You know I don’t mind
Oh you know, I don’t mind

And, yes you’ll be the only one
‘Cause no one can deny
This love I have inside
And I’ll give it all to you
My love, my love, my love
My endless love

Sandra - Maria Magdalena Lyrics

Sandra – Maria Magdalena Lyrics

You take my love
You want my soul
I would be crazy to share your life
Why can’t you see what I am?
Sharpen your senses and turn the knife
Hurt me and you’ll understand

I’ll never be Maria Magdalena
(You’re a creature of the night)
Maria Magdalena
(You’re a victim of the fight, you need love)
Promise me delight
(You need love)
I’ll never be Maria Magdalena
(You’re a creature of the night)
Maria Magdalena
(You’re a victim of the fight, you need love)
Promise me delight
(You need love)
[x2]

Why must I lie?
Find alibis?
When will you wake up and realize
I can’t surrender to you?
Play for affection and win the prize?
I know those party games too

I’ll never be Maria Magdalena
(You’re a creature of the night)
Maria Magdalena
(You’re a victim of the fight, you need love)
Promise me delight
(You need love)
I’ll never be Maria Magdalena
(You’re a creature of the night)
Maria Magdalena
(You’re a victim of the fight, you need love)
Promise me delight
(You need love)

I’ll never be Maria Magdalena
(You’re a creature of the night)
Maria Magdalena
(You’re a victim of the fight, you need love)
Promise me delight
(You need love)
I’ll never be Maria Magdalena
(You’re a creature of the night)
Maria Magdalena
(You’re a victim of the fight, you need love)
Promise me delight
(You need love)

T-Rex – Ride a White Swan Lyrics 1970

T-Rex - Ride a White Swan Lyrics

T. Rex were an English glam rock band, formed in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan. The band initially called Tyrannosaurus Rex, released four folk albums under this banner. In 1970, Bolan began to make a shift from basing his band’s sound around an acoustic guitar to basing it around an electric one and shortened their name to T. Rex.

“Ride a White Swan” coincided with this change and instantly became a commercial success. From 1970 until 1973, T. Rex encountered in the UK a popularity unseen since the demise of the Beatles, with a run of 11 singles ranked in the British top ten. 1971’s Electric Warrior received sustained critical acclaim as a pioneering album of glam rock. It reached the number 1 position in the UK. The follow-up, 1972’s The Slider, allowed the band to enter in the top 5 in the USA. At the end of 1973, T. Rex started to have less commercial success but kept on recording one album per year.

In 1977, Bolan died in a car accident a couple of months after releasing their final studio album Dandy in the Underworld. Since then, T. Rex have continued to exert a vast influence on a variety of subsequent artists.

T-Rex – Ride a White Swan Lyrics

Ride it on out like a bird in the sky ways
Ride it on out like you were a bird
Fly it all out like an eagle in a sunbeam
Ride it on out like you were a bird

Wear a tall hat like a druid in the old days
Wear a tall hat and a tatooed gown
Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane
Wear your hair long, babe you can’t go wrong

Catch a bright star and a place it on your fore-head
Say a few spells and baby, there you go
Take a black cat and sit it on your shoulder
And in the morning you’ll know all you know, oh

Wear a tall hat like a druid in the old days
Wear a tall hat and a tatooed gown
Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane
Wear your hair long, babe you can’t go wrong

Da-da-da-di-di-da, da-da-da-di-di-da…

Terry Jacks – Seasons in the Sun Lyrics

The song “Seasons in the Sun”, released in late 1973 on his own record label, Goldfish Records, became the largest-selling international single by a Canadian artist at that time, eventually selling 14 million copies worldwide. It earned Jacks two Juno Awards and became one of the biggest selling Canadian Singles of all time.

The song was based on Rod McKuen’s 1965 re-write of “Le moribond”, originally by Belgian singer Jacques Brel from 1962. For his version, Jacks made some modifications to the lyrics, which along with McKuen’s, resulted in a work that bears little resemblance to Brel’s original in tone, substance or poetry. In the United States,[2] in Great Britain[3] and in Germany,[4] it was released on Bell Records, and the song nonetheless went to #1 on the charts. In Canada it was released on his own label, Goldfish Records, distributed by London Records Canada.[citation needed]

Terry Jacks - Seasons in the Sun Lyrics

Jacks later released “If You Go Away” (another McKuen adaptation of a Jacques Brel song entitled “Ne Me Quitte Pas”), which reached #8 in Great Britain and #24 in Germany, and a cover of Kevin Johnson’s “Rock ‘N’ Roll (I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life)”, both of which had more success in Canada but also made the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. He wrote and recorded a number of other songs and went on to produce many artists including The Beach Boys with a version of “Seasons in the Sun” shortly before his own, but that was never released. He also produced the singles “Crazy Talk”[5] and “There’s Something I Like About That” for Chilliwack from their album Riding High.

Jacks produced two songs for Nana Mouskouri: “Scarborough Fair” and “Loving Arms” in 1976.[citation needed] He produced the Vancouver top 10 hit “Country Boy Named Willy” for “SPRING” on London Records (#38 Canada); And Valdy’s original version of “Rock and Roll Song” (b/w sometime “Sunday Morning”). The record was scheduled for release on London Records but was re-recorded in L.A. with another producer when Valdy signed a recording contract. He also spent a lot of time with Buddy Knox in the 1970s and produced a single for him with two songs: “Me and You” (written by Jacks) and the George Jones song “White Lightnin'”. The single remains unreleased. Jacks also went on to produce a number of other artists in the 1980s and 1990s including DOA who recorded a punk rock version of “Where Evil Grows”.

Terry Jacks – Seasons in the Sun Lyrics

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We’ve known each other since we were nine or ten.
Together we’ve climbed hills and trees.
Learned of love and ABC’s,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.

Goodbye my friend, it’s hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
Think of me and I’ll be there.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.

Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family.
You tried to teach me right from wrong.
Too much wine and too much song,
wonder how I got along.

Goodbye, Papa, it’s hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Little children everywhere.
When you see them I’ll be there.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, have all gone.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, have all gone.

Goodbye, Michelle, my little one.
You gave me love and helped me find the sun.
And every time that I was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on the ground.

Goodbye, Michelle, it’s hard to die
when all the bird are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
With the flowers ev’rywhere.
I wish that we could both be there.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfish on the beach

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfish on the beach

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun,
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, have all gone.

All our lives we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time….

Al Bano and Romina Power – Felicita Lyrics

Al Bano and Romina Power - Felicita Lyrics

“Felicità” (pronounced [felitʃiˈta]; Italian for “Happiness”) is a song by Italian duo Al Bano and Romina Power, released in 1982. It was an international commercial success and remains arguably their best-known song.

The duo participated with the track in the 1982 Sanremo Music Festival and finished second. The song appeared on their 1982 album Felicità (also known as Aria pura). The closing track from the album, “Arrivederci a Bahia”, was released as the B side. For the Spanish release, both songs were re-recorded in Spanish, and the single received a different cover image.

“Felicità” was met with a great commercial success, topping Italian singles chart and eventually selling in millions of copies internationally in march-june of the 1982.

Music video[edit]
The music video for the song was filmed in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on the banks of Neva River. It pictures Albano Carrisi and Romina Power performing the song while driving a motorboat and sitting in a carriage, respectively. Romina and most extras wear historic costumes.

Al Bano and Romina Power – Felicita Lyrics

Felicita e tenersi per mano
andare lontano la felicita.
E il tuo squardo innocente
in mezzo alla gente la felicita.
E restare vicini come bambini

Senti nell’ario c’e gia
la nostra canzone d’amore che va.
Come un pensiero che sa di felicita.

Senti nell’aria c’e gia

Senti nell’ario c’e gia…
Felicita

Middle of the Road – Sacramento Lyrics

Middle of the Road - Sacramento Lyrics

Middle of the Road is a Scottish pop group who enjoyed success across Europe and Latin America in the early 1970s. Four of their singles sold over one million copies each, and received a gold disc. The tracks were “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep” (which went on to sell over 10 million), “Sacramento”, “Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum” and “Soley Soley”. By early 1972 the group had sold over five million records.

Lead singer Sally Carr, drummer Ken Andrew, guitarist Ian McCredie and his bassist brother Eric McCredie, founded the band on 1 April 1970 in Glasgow, Scotland. They already played together under the name Part Four since 1967 and later in Latin American style under the name Los Caracas.

Under the name Los Caracas they won the UK TV talent show Opportunity Knocks. They moved to Italy in 1970 because they had not found success in the United Kingdom. There they met the Italian music producer Giacomo Tosti, who gave the band their distinctive sound and gave them their international break.

The band had their first and biggest hit record in the United Kingdom with debut UK single, “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep” to reach #1 in the UK Singles Chart in June 1971 and keep it for four more weeks. In all, Middle of the Road had five hit singles in the UK during 1971-1972. The band had especially strong success in Germany, where they achieved eleven Top 40 hits in 1971-1974. As an example of this, Frank Valdor was fast to adapt Sacramento as his “party records”. Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep and Sacramento were played a lot on Scandinavian radio.

In 1974 early Bay City Rollers member Neil Henderson joined the band on guitar. He wrote and co-wrote songs for Middle of the Road (including the singles “Rockin’ Soul” and “Everybody Loves A Winner” and 1974 albums, You Pays Yer Money And You Takes Yer Chance and Postcard, all released in Germany via Ariola like their first German LP, Music Music), but their commercial success could not keep pace with that of earlier songs.

Middle of the Road – Sacramento Lyrics

There’s something about the weather that everybody loves
They call it the Indian spring of Sacramento
And when the sun is up in the sky
The wind is blowing by the riverside, most every day

You’re in Sacramento, a wonderful town
Sing, sing, sing, din-di-din

There’s something about the people that everybody knows
That gives you a tender feeling of confusion
You’re feeling lonely but you don’t know
Until this other feeling here inside you starts to grow

You’re in Sacramento, a wonderful town
Sing, sing, sing, din-di-din

Now that spring is near again
And you’re thinking if only you were not so lonely, boo-hoo
But you can ease your restless mind
(Ease your restless mind)
‘Cos all the people are lovin’ kind in Sacramento

There’s something about the weather that everybody loves
They call it the Indian spring of Sacramento
You’re feeling lonely but you don’t know
Until this other feeling here inside you starts to grow

You’re in Sacramento – a wonderful town
Sing, sing, sing, din-di-din

Sacramento, Sacramento
Sacramento, Sacramento
Sacramento, Sacramento
Sacramento, Sacramento

Sacramento, Sacramento
Sacramento, Sacramento
Sacramento, Sacramento

Gwen Stefani – 4 In The Morning Lyrics

Gwen Stefani - 4 In The Morning Lyrics

“4 in the Morning” is a song by American singer and songwriter Gwen Stefani from her second studio album The Sweet Escape (2006). It was written by Stefani and co-written and produced by Tony Kanal, with additional production by Mark “Spike” Stent. Interscope Records serviced the song to US mainstream radio on May 8, 2007, as the album’s third single; elsewhere it was released in June 2007. Described as one of her favorite songs on the album, Stefani began writing the song while pregnant and finished with Kanal, having Roberta Flack and Billy Idol hits as influences to built the track.

“4 in the Morning” was defined as a 1980s-inspired midtempo synthpop ballad, with its instrumentation of a light keyboard during its intro through its break, a guitar, synthetic strings and a slick sheen. Lyrically, the song talks about a relationship on the edge, with the protagonist trying to save her love. The song received generally positive reviews from music critics, who noted it as an improvement over her last singles, while praising its tempo and highlighting her vocals.

Commercially, it failed to replicate the commercial success of previous singles in the United States, peaking at number 54; it proved to be successful elsewhere, reaching the top-ten in New Zealand and Australia, while reaching the top 20 in several European countries. Its accompanying music video was directed by Stefani’s longtime collaborator Sophie Muller and features the singer lying in bed and walking around her apartment while performing the song in a melancholic mood. The song was performed during The Sweet Escape Tour and in some concerts Stefani made during 2015.

Gwen Stefani – 4 In The Morning Lyrics

Wakin’ up to find another day
The moon got lost again last night
But now the sun has finally had its say
I guess I feel alright

But it hurts when I think
When I let it sink in, its all over me
Im lyin’ here in the dark
I’m watchin’ you sleep, it hurts a lot

And all I know is
Youve got to give me everything
Nothing less ’cause
You know I give you all of me

I give you everything that I am
Im handin over everything that Ive got
‘Cause I wanna have a really true love
Dont ever wanna have to go and give you up

Stay up till four in the mornin’ and the tears are pourin’
And I want to make it worth the fight
What have we been doin’ for all this time?
Baby, if were gonna do it, come on do it right

All I wanted was to know Im safe
Dont want to lose the love Ive found
Remember when you said that you would change
Dont let me down

Its not fair how you are
I cant be complete, can you give me more?

And all I know is
Youve got to give me everything
Nothing less ’cause
You know I give you all of me

I give you everything that I am
Im handin’ over everything that Ive got
‘Cause I wanna have a really true love
Dont ever wanna have to go and give you up

Stay up till four in the mornin’ and the tears are pourin’
And I want to make it worth the fight
What have we been doin’ for all this time?
Baby if were gonna do it, come on do it right

Oh please, you know what I need
Save all your love up for me
We cant escape the love
Give me everything that you have

And all I know is
Youve got to give me everything
Nothing less ’cause
You know I give you all of me

I give you everything that I am
Im handin’ over everything that Ive got
‘Cause I wanna have a really true love
Dont ever wanna have to go and give you up

Stay up till four in the mornin’ and the tears are pourin’
And I want to make it worth the fight
What have we been doin’ for all this time?
Baby if were gonna do it, come on do it right

Give you all of me
Give you everything
Give you all of me
