Kaoma – Lambada Lyrics

Kaoma - Lambada Lyrics

“Lambada”, also known as “Chorando Se Foi (Lambada)” or “Llorando se fue (Lambada)”, is a song recorded by French pop group Kaoma. It features guest vocals by Brazilian vocalist Loalwa Braz. It was released as the first single from Kaoma’s debut album Worldbeat. The video, filmed on Cocos beach in the city of Trancoso, in the state of Bahia, Brazil, features the Brazilian child duo Chico & Roberta.

The song in Portuguese is a mix cover of Márcia Ferreira’s 1986 hit “Chorando se foi” (lyrics translated to Portuguese) and the Cuarteto Continental hit “Llorando se fue” (first upbeat version of the song introducing the accordion), released in 1984 through the Peruvian record label INFOPESA and produced by Alberto Maravi; both songs were adapted from the 1981 Bolivian song Llorando se fue by Los Kjarkas.

At the time of release, the song has been regarded as the most successful European single in the history of CBS records with sales of 1.8 million copies in France and more than 4 million across Europe. It has sold more than 12 million copies worldwide, making it one of the world’s most-famous singles of all time.

The single became a worldwide summer hit, selling over 5 million copies in 1989[29] and was part of the Lambada dance craze. It reached number one on eleven different charts, as well as number four on both the UK Singles Chart and Irish Singles Chart, number five on the Australia ARIA Singles Chart, and in 1990[30] it hit number 46 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, becoming one of the best known Brazilian songs of all time.

Chart Performance

“Chorando Se Foi (Lambada)” was the 37th best-selling single of the United Kingdom during 1989. In France, where it topped the chart for 12 weeks and sold almost two million copies, the single was the number-one on the year-end list.

Music Video

The music video of the song was filmed on stage on Tago Mago Island in the Mediterranean Sea and on Cocos Beach in the city of Trancoso, Bahia, Brazil. It features the Brazilian child duet Chico & Roberta as love interests. Roberta’s father does not want her to hang out with Chico, but Loalwa mends the situation among the three.

Motion Picture

The song was licensed by producer Richard L. Albert for his film The Forbidden Dance after he saw Kaoma perform in a Los Angeles club. Not only was Kaoma’s rendition used, but the song was also performed by Kid Creole and the Coconuts on screen with English lyrics.

Kaoma – Lambada Lyrics

A recordação vai estar com ele aonde for
A recordação vai estar pra sempre aonde for

Dança, sol e mar, guardarei no olhar
O amor faz perder encontrar
Lambando estarei ao lembrar que este amor
Por um dia um instante foi rei

A recordação vai estar com ele aonde for
A recordação vai estar pra sempre aonde for
Chorando estará ao lembrar de um amor
Que um dia não soube cuidar

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen The Rain Lyrics

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen The Rain Lyrics

Creedence Clearwater Revival, often shortened to Creedence and abbreviated as CCR, was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford.

Their musical style encompassed the roots rock, swamp rock, and blues rock genres. Despite their San Francisco Bay Area origins, they portrayed a Southern rock style, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River, and other popular elements of Southern US iconography, as well as political and socially-conscious lyrics about topics including the Vietnam War.

Creedence Clearwater Revival’s music is still a staple of US radio airplay; the band has sold 26 million albums in the United States alone. Creedence Clearwater Revival was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. Rolling Stone ranked the band 82nd on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. Their musical influence can be heard in many genres, including southern rock, grunge, roots rock, and blues.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen The Rain Lyrics

Someone told me long ago
There’s a calm before the storm,
I know; it’s been coming for some time.

When it’s over, so they say
It’ll rain a sunny day,
I know; shining down like water.

I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain
Coming down on a sunny day?

Yesterday, and days before,
Sun is cold and rain is hard,
I know; been that way for all my time.

‘Til forever, on it goes
Through the circle, fast and slow,
I know; it can’t stop, I wonder.

I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain
Coming down on a sunny day?

Yeah!

I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain
Coming down on a sunny day?

Snap – Exterminate Lyrics

Snap - Exterminate Lyrics

Snap! are a German Eurodance project formed in 1989 by Frankfurt-based producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti. The act has been through a number of line-up changes over the years, but was most successful when fronted by American rapper Turbo B, who performed on singles “The Power” and “Rhythm Is a Dancer”.

Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti formed Snap! in 1989 under the aliases Benito Benites and John “Virgo” Garrett III, as they thought that the public had negative preconceived ideas of German music. Their first hit “The Power”, which was fronted by rapper Turbo B. and American singer Penny Ford, peaked at No.2 in Germany in April 1990 and spent five weeks in that position eventually going Gold for sales of 250,000 units. The single topped the charts in the United Kingdom, and picked up a Silver-award for sales of 200,000 units.[5][6] In the U.S., it reached No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was certified Platinum for 1,000,000 units.

Jackie Harris was used to mime Penny Ford’s voice in the video “The Power” and left the group shortly after and Penny Ford became its full-time lead singer, recording the second single “Ooops Up”, a re-working of “I Don’t Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance (Ooops!)”, a 1980 hit by The Gap Band, with which Penny was a former backing singer. The song “Oops Up” was another No.2 hit in Germany which spent nine weeks in the position.

Moody Blues – Melancholy Man Lyrics

The Moody Blues are an English rock band. They first came to prominence playing rhythm and blues music, but their second album, Days of Future Passed, which was released in 1967, was a fusion of rock with classical music and established them as pioneers in the development of art rock and progressive rock.

It has been described as a “landmark” and “one of the first successful concept albums”. They became known internationally with singles including “Go Now”, “Nights in White Satin”, “Tuesday Afternoon” and “Question”. They have been awarded 18 platinum and gold discs. Their album sales total 70 million.

Moody Blues – Melancholy Man Lyrics

Moody Blues – Melancholy Man Lyrics

I’m a melancholy man, that’s what I am,
All the world surrounds me, and my feet are on the ground.
I’m a very lonely man, doing what I can,
All the world astounds me and I think I understand
That we’re going to keep growing, wait and see.

When all the stars are falling down
Into the sea and on the ground,
And angry voices carry on the wind,
A beam of light will fill your head
And you’ll remember what’s been said
By all the good men this world’s ever known.
Another man is what you’ll see,
Who looks like you and looks like me,
And yet somehow he will not feel the same,
His life caught up in misery, he doesn’t think like you and me,
‘Cause he can’t see what you and I can see.

Sinead O’Connor – Óro, Sé Do Bheatha ‘Bhaile Lyrics

Sinead O'Connor - Óro, Sé Do Bheatha 'Bhaile Lyrics

Óró, sé do bheatha ‘bhaile (Irish pronunciation: [ˈoːɾˠoː ʃeː d̪ˠə ˈvʲahə walʲə]) is a traditional Irish song, that came to be known as a rebel song in the early 20th century. Óró is a cheer, while sé do bheatha ‘bhaile means “welcome home.”

Like many folk songs, the origins of this song are obscure, but several different uses of the tune and chorus can be identified.

In 1884 Mr. Francis Hogan of Brenormore, near Carrick-on-Suir, then “well over seventy years of age”, reported that “this song used to be played at the ‘Hauling Home,’ or the bringing home of a wife”. The “hauling home” was a ceremony that took place a month after a wedding when a bride was brought to live in her new husband’s home. This version only consists of the chorus.

Énrí Ó Muirġeasa also records a similar refrain in 1915 from the Barony of Farney, “but the song to which it belonged was lost before my time”. There is no mention of “hauling home” and the line that P. W. Joyce gives as thá tu maith le rátha (“’tis you are happy with prosperity [in store for you]”) is instead Tá tú amuiġ le ráiṫċe (“You’ve been gone three months”).

This song has also been associated with the Jacobite cause as Séarlas Óg (“Young Charles” in Irish), referring to Bonnie Prince Charlie and dating to the third Jacobite rising of 1745-6.

The tune appears as number 1425 in George Petrie’s The Complete Collection of Irish Music (1855) under the title Ó ro! ’sé do ḃeaṫa a ḃaile (modern script: Ó ro! ’sé do bheatha a bhaile) and is marked “Ancient clan march.” It can also be found at number 983 (also marked “Ancient Clan March”) and as a fragment at number 1056, titled Welcome home Prince Charley.

In the early 20th century it received new verses by the nationalist poet Padraig Pearse and was often sung by members of the Irish Volunteers during the Easter Rising. It was also sung as a fast march during the Irish War of Independence.

Since 1916 it has also been known under various other titles, notably Dord na bhFiann (Call of the Fighters) or An Dord Féinne. The latter title is associated with Pearse in particular. This version features the pirate or “Great Sea Warrior” Gráinne Ní Mháille (Grace O’Malley), a formidable power on the west coast of Ireland in the late 16th century.

Pearse shows his knowledge of the Jacobite version in the way he adapts it to the new independence cause. He emphasises the Irishness of the fighters by substituting native Gráinne for foreign Prince Charlie and changing Béidh siad leis-sean Franncaigh is Spáinnigh (“They’ll be with him, French and Spanish”) to Gaeil féin ‘s ní Francaigh ná Spáinnigh (“Gaels they, and neither French nor Spaniard”).

Óro, Sé Do Bheatha ‘Bhaile Lyrics

Se do bheatha a bhean ba leanmhar! B’e ar gcreach tu bheith i ngeibhinn, Do dhuiche bhrea i seilbh meirleach’S tu diolta leis na Ghallaibh.

[Chorus:]

Oro, se do bheatha ‘bhaile! Oro, se do bheatha ‘bhaile! Oro, se do bheatha ‘bhaile! Anois ar theacht an tsamhraidh.
Ta Grainne Mhaol ag teacht thar saile, Oglaigh armtha lei mar gharda; Gaeil iad fein ‘s ni Gaill na Spainnigh,’S cuirfid siad ruaig ar Ghallaibh.

[Chorus]

A bhui le Ri na bhfeart go bhfeiceam, Muna mbeam beo ‘na dhiaidh ach seachtain, Grainne Mhaol agus mile gaiscioch
Ag fogairt fain ar Ghallaibh.

[Chorus]

English Translation

Hail, oh woman, who was so afflicted,
It was our ruin that you were in chains,
Our fine land in the possession of thieves…
While you were sold to the foreigners!
Chorus:
Oh-ro, welcome home
Oh-ro, welcome home
Oh-ro, welcome home
Now that summer’s coming!
Gráinne Mhaol is coming over the sea,
Armed warriors as her guard,
They are Gaels, not French nor Spanish…
and they will rout the foreigners!
Chorus
May it please the King of Miracles that we might see,
Although we may live but one week after,
Gráinne Mhaol and a thousand warriors…
Dispersing the foreigners!
Chorus

Roxette – Listen To Your Heart Lyrics

Roxette – Listen To Your Heart Lyrics

“Listen to Your Heart” is a song by the Swedish rock band Roxette. The song was originally released in September 1988 in Sweden only, as the fourth single from their second studio album, Look Sharp! (1988); later, it reached number one in its re-release in 1989 on the Canadian singles chart and the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on 4 November 1989, their second chart-topper of the year. The song was written by Per Gessle and Mats M.P. Persson.

They rose to #1 the same week the dominant New Kids on the Block rose to number two with their song “Cover Girl”, thus preventing the group from taking the top spot. The song was released in the UK in October 1989 and reached a lowly number 62, but was re-issued in August 1990 as a double A-side with “Dangerous” after the success of their previous single “It Must Have Been Love”, and reached number six.

The single was one of the top 25 best selling singles of 1989 in the U.S.

Roxette – Listen To Your Heart Lyrics

I know there’s something in the wake of your smile.
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yea.
You’ve built a love but that love falls apart.
Your little piece of heaven turns too dark.

Listen to your heart
when he’s calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there’s nothing else you can do.
I don’t know where you’re going
and I don’t know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile.
The precious moments are all lost in the tide, yea.
They’re swept away and nothing is what it seems,
the feeling of belonging to your dreams.

Listen to your heart
when he’s calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there’s nothing else you can do.
I don’t know where you’re going
and I don’t know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

And there are voices
that want to be heard.
So much to mention
but you can’t find the words.
The scent of magic,
the beauty that’s been
when love was wilder than the wind.

Listen to your heart
when he’s calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there’s nothing else you can do.
I don’t know where you’re going
and I don’t know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

Listen to your heart
when he’s calling for you.
Listen to your heart
there’s nothing else you can do.
I don’t know where you’re going
and I don’t know why,
but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye.

Blondie – Heart of Glass Lyrics

Blondie - Heart of Glass Lyrics

Blondie is an American rock band founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was a pioneer in the early American new wave and punk scenes of the mid-late 1970s. Its first two albums contained strong elements of these genres, and although successful in the United Kingdom and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978.

Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles including “Call Me”, “Atomic” and “Heart of Glass” and became noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco, pop, rap, and reggae, while retaining a basic style as a new wave band.

Blondie broke up after the release of its sixth studio album The Hunter in 1982. Debbie Harry continued to pursue a solo career with varied results after taking a few years off to care for partner Chris Stein, who was diagnosed with pemphigus, a rare autoimmune disease of the skin.

The band re-formed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with “Maria” in 1999, exactly 20 years after their first UK No.1 single (“Heart of Glass”).

The group toured and performed throughout the world during the following years, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. Blondie has sold 40 million records worldwide and is still active today. The band’s ninth studio album, Panic of Girls, was released in 2011,[ and their tenth, Ghosts of Download, was released in 2014.

Blondie – Heart of Glass Lyrics

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love’s gone behind

Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
Mucho mistrust, love’s gone behind

In between
What I find is pleasing and I’m feeling fine
Love is so confusing there’s no peace of mind
If I fear I’m losing you it’s just no good
You teasing like you do

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love’s gone behind

Lost inside
Adorable illusion and I cannot hide
I’m the one you’re using, please don’t push me aside
We could’ve made it cruising, yeah

Yeah, riding high on love’s true bluish light

Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out I had a heart of glass [radio version]
Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass [album version]
Seemed like the real thing only to find
Mucho mistrust, love’s gone behind

Suzi Quatro - 48 Crash Lyrics

Suzi Quatro (born 3 June 1950, Detroit) is an American glam rock singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actress. She was the first female bass player to become a major rock star, breaking a barrier to women’s participation in rock music.

In the 1970s Quatro scored a string of hit singles that found greater success in European and Australian territories than in her homeland. Following a recurring role as bass player Leather Tuscadero on the popular American sitcom Happy Days, her duet “Stumblin’ In” with Chris Norman reached number 4 in the USA in 1979.

Quatro released her self-titled debut album in 1973. Since then, she has released fifteen studio albums, ten compilation albums, and one live album. Her solo hits include “Can the Can”, “48 Crash”, “Daytona Demon”, “Devil Gate Drive”, and “Your Mamma Won’t Like Me”.

Quatro has sold over 50 million albums and continues to perform live, worldwide. Her most recent album was released in 2011 and she also continues to present new radio programmes.

Suzi Quatro - 48 Crash Lyrics

Suzi Quatro – 48 Crash Lyrics

Well you got the hands of a man and the face of a little boy blue-ue
And when you stand you’re so grand there’s a case just for looking at you-oo oo-oo
You’re so young, you could have been the devil’s son
You’re so young, but like a hang up I’ll be sad when you’re old and you’re gone

Watch Out!
You know the 48 Crash come like a lightning flash (48 Crash, 48 Crash)
And the 48 Crash is a silk sash bash (48 Crash, 48 Crash)
48 Crash, 48 Crash

Come like a lightning flash, a lightning flash
And it’s a silk sash bash, a silk sash bash, that’s the 48 Crash
You’ve got the kind of a mind of a juvenile Romeo-o
And you’re so blind you could find that your motor ain’t ready to go-o o-o
You’re so young, you’re a hot shot son of a gun
You’re so young, but like a teenage tearaway soon you’ll be torn and you’ll run

Crash, Crash, 48 Crash (Crash)
Crash, Crash, 48 Crash (Crash)
Crash, Crash, 48 Crash (Crash)
Crash, Crash, AAAGH!
You know the 48 Crash comes like a lightning flash (48 Crash, 48 Crash)
And the 48 Crash is a silk sash bash (48 Crash, 48 Crash)
48 Crash, 48 Crash

Come like a lightning flash, a lightning flash
And it’s a silk sash bash, a silk sash bash
That’s the 48 Crash
48 Crash
48 Crash

Taylor Swift – Better Than Revenge Lyrics

“Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did”

Ha!
Time for a little revenge

The story starts when it was hot and it was summer and…
I had it all, I had him right there where I wanted him
She came along, got him alone and let’s hear the applause
She took him faster than you could say “sabotage”

I never saw it coming, wouldn’t have suspected it
I underestimated just who I was dealing with
She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum
She underestimated just who she was stealing from

She’s not a saint
And she’s not what you think
She’s an actress, whoa
She’s better known
For the things that she does
On the mattress, whoa
Soon she’s gonna find
Stealing other people’s toys
On the playground won’t
Make you many friends
She should keep in mind
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge

She looks at life like it’s a party and she’s on the list
She looks at me like I’m a trend and she’s so over it
I think her ever-present frown is a little troubling
And she thinks I’m psycho ’cause I like to rhyme her name with things

But sophistication isn’t what you wear or who you know
Or pushing people down to get you where you wanna go
They wouldn’t teach you that in prep school so it’s up to me
But no amount of vintage dresses gives you dignity

She’s not a saint
And she’s not what you think
She’s an actress, whoa
She’s better known
For the things that she does
On the mattress, whoa
Soon she’s gonna find
Stealing other people’s toys
On the playground won’t
Make you many friends
She should keep in mind
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge

I’m just another thing for you
To roll your eyes at, honey
You might have him but haven’t you heard
I’m just another thing for you
To roll your eyes at, honey
You might have him but I always get the last word
Whoa

She’s not a saint
And she’s not what you think
She’s an actress, whoa
She’s better known
For the things that she does
On the mattress, whoa
Soon she’s gonna find
Stealing other people’s toys
On the playground won’t
Make you many friends
She should keep in mind
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge

Do you still feel like you know what you’re doing?
‘Cause I don’t think you do. Oh.
Do you still feel like you know what you’re doing?
I don’t think you do
I don’t think you do
Let’s hear the applause
Come on show me how much better you are (so much better, yeah)
So you deserve some applause ’cause you’re so much better
She took him faster than you could say “sabotage”

Imagination – Just an Illusion Lyrics

Imagination were an English three piece band, who came to prominence in the early 1980s. They had chart hits in 28 countries, earning four platinum discs, nine gold discs and more than a dozen silver discs around the world between 1981 and 1983.

Singer/keyboardist Leee John was working as a backing vocalist for The Delfonics, Chairmen of the Board, The Velvelettes and The Elgins when he met Ashley Ingram, a guitarist/bassist (born 27 November 1960, Northampton). John and Ingram formed a songwriting partnership, resolving to start their own ‘slinky, sexy and erotic’ group, working in a short-lived band called Fizzz.

Whilst they were auditioning for another short-lived band, Midnight Express, they met drummer Errol Kennedy (born 9 June 1953, Montego Bay Jamaica) who, at a very young age had learned to drum in the Boys’ Brigade and Air Training Corps. Kennedy was a member of the London-based soul-funk band TFB (Typical Funk Band) later known as Central Line prior to co-founding Midnight Express.

Formed in early 1981, the trio took a demo tape of a track called “Body Talk” to producers Jolley & Swain. It was released as a single in April 1981 under the group name Imagination, a name that the group chose as a tribute to John Lennon. The track reached number 4 in the UK Singles Chart in July 1981, selling 250,000 copies in the UK and spending eighteen weeks in the Top 50. They had two more hit singles that year, “In and Out of Love” (September) and “Flashback” (November), both of which peaked at number 16, all from their debut album, also called Body Talk.

Their biggest hit, “Just an Illusion”, peaked at number two in March 1982 (“Just an Illusion” would later be used as the end title song to the 1986 film, F/X); followed by “Music and Lights” (number five in June), “In the Heat of the Night” (number 22 in September, also the name of their second album) and “Changes” (number 31 in December).

This was accompanied by a sell-out concert tour of Europe, with 22 dates in the UK. The trio frequently appeared on BBC Television’s Top of the Pops, and other pop music television programmes, with a distinctive exotic style, reminiscent of Roman senators, harem orderlies and slaves. John made a guest appearance on Doctor Who in 1983. They were also known for their esoteric album sleeve notes.

Following this the success of the group in the UK waned, but they continued to perform, tour and record. In 1987, they were signed to RCA Records and recorded two albums and seven more singles. At the end of 1987 Kennedy left the band. John with new members, Nat Augustin and Peter Royer continued and recorded a last album Fascination of the Physical, in 1990. The band split in 1992.

John went back to acting, but re-surfaced as a singer in the reality television show, Reborn in the USA. Ingram also enjoyed success as a songwriter for Des’ree.

Imagination – Just an Illusion lyrics

Searching for a destiny that’s mine
There’s another place another time
Touching many hearts along the way yeah
Hoping that I’ll never have to say

It’s just an illusion, illusion, illusion

Follow your emotions anywhere
Is it really magic in the air
Never let your feelings get you down
Open up your eyes and look around

It’s just an illusion, illusion, illusion

Could it be that it’s just an illusion
Putting me back in all this confusion
Could it be that it’s just an illusion now
Could it be that it’s just an illusion
Putting me back in all this confusion
Could it be that it’s just an illusion now

Could it be a picture in my mind
Never sure exactly what I’ll find
Only in my dreams I turn you on
Here for just a moment then you’re gone

It’s just an illusion, illusion, illusion

Illusion, illusion, illusion, illusion

Could it be that it’s just an illusion
Putting me back in all this confusion
Could it be that it’s just an illusion now
Could it be that it’s just an illusion
Putting me back in all this confusion
Could it be that it’s just an illusion now

Could it be that
Putting me back
Could it be that
Could it be that it’s just an illusion
Putting me back in all this confusion
Could it be that it’s just an illusion now

Could it be that it’s just an illusion
Putting me back in all this confusion
Could it be that it’s just an illusion now

Could it be that it’s just an illusion
Putting me back in all this confusion
Could it be that it’s just an illusion now
