TED TALLY (Screenwriter) wrote the screen adaptation of The Silence of the Lambs for which he won an Academy Award, Writer's Guild Award, Chicago Film Critics Award and an Edgar from the Mystery Writers of America. Tally also wrote screenplays for Before and After, The Juror, White Palace and All the Pretty Horses, for which he won the Best Screenplay Award from the National Board of Review. He also served as associate producer on the Brian DePalma film Mission to Mars.
For the theater Tally has written Terra Nova (Obie and Dramalogue Awards), Hooters, Coming Attractions (Outer Critics Circle Award), Little Footsteps and Silver Linings. His television scripts include The Comedy Zone, Hooters, Terra Nova (BBC-TV), and The Father Clements Story (Christopher Award).
Born in North Carolina, Tally was educated at Yale College and the Yale School of Drama, and has also taught at each of them. His other honors include fellowships from the NEA and the Guggenheim Foundation. He lives with his wife and two children in Pennsylvania.
