A fixture in the world of animation for more than a decade, JESSICA KOPLOS-MILLER (Producer) was born in Roscoe, Ill., just outside Chicago. After attending the University of Illinois, where she earned a bachelor's degree in sociology, Koplos-Miller joined the Peace Corps. Her work in Honduras provided her with invaluable life experience and exposed her to other cultures and peoples; as a result, Koplos-Miller strives to incorporate these lessons of humanity and compassion into all her projects.
After returning to Chicago in 1987, Koplos-Miller quickly found work with the Lyric Opera as a technical administrator. In 1990, she moved to Los Angeles, where Koplos-Miller was first introduced to the magically creative world of animation. Her first job as a production assistant on “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” for the animation company Fred Wolf Films opened the doors to the biggest player of them all-Walt Disney Productions.
Koplos-Miller joined Disney in 1991 and worked as Assistant Producer on the TV series “Aladdin” and “Bonkers” before helping produce the enormously successful direct-to-video “Aladdin 2: The Return of Jafar.” Disney's profitable direct-to-video division was practically single-handedly created by this film's financial triumph.
Riding high off her work on “Aladdin 2,” Koplos-Miller was soon hired by Pioneer studios where she associate produced the series “Tenchi-Muyo.” She then moved on to HBO to work on the series “Spawn,” based on the cult comic book of the same name, and the risqué “Spicy City.” MTV came calling with “Aeon Flux,” followed by CBS/Nelvana with “Wild C.A.T.S.” and Matinee Entertainment with “Kampung Boy.” In 1997, Koplos-Miller co-founded Atomic Age, a company which offers CD-ROM design and creative services for animated projects and publishing.
Koplos-Miller currently lives in Chicago.
