The daughter of an actor-musician and a dancer, Cree Summer was raised on a Cree Indian reservation in Saskatchewan. She began her entertainment career at the age of nine, singing with her father's jazz band.
Not long after that, she snagged her first voiceover role while accompanying her father to an interview for an animated project. She was asked to audition and immediately cast in the first of many roles including “The Care Bears” (feature film and television versions), Penny on “Inspector Gadget,” “Ghostbusters” and John Candy's “Candy Camp.”
Summer was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Scholastic Production's “Clifford the Big Red Dog” and voiced Princess Kida, a lead character in the Disney feature film, “Atlantis: The Lost Empire.” She has a thriving career in cartoon voiceovers, including “Rug Rats - All Grown Up,” “Code Name: Kids Next Door,” “The Wild Thornberrys,” “Spiderman,” “The Proud Family,” “Teenage Robot” and “Chalk Zone.”
Summer has displayed her talents on camera in feature films including “The Return of Billy Jack,” “Wild Thing” and “Hearts of Fire.” She was a regular on NBC's top-rated series “A Different World” for five years, on “Sweet Justice” with Cicely Tyson and Melissa Gilbert and on “Courthouse” for CBS Television. She has appeared in more than 200 commercials.
An accomplished musician and songwriter, Summer has toured the United States and Europe and recorded two albums: “Womb Amnesiac” and Lenny Kravitz's “Street Fairy.”
