I think the album is completely rhythmic and lively, I mean very much lively…
You'll see, everybody who listen to my songs, will begin to dance. Actually, they already have begun. I went to Germany for a television program, and, German girls had already learned oriental dance. Yeah, let them dance. The world is full of worry. The news do not tell good things. So, let people try to be relaxed by dancing. Actually, I like to sing these kind of songs.
After the invasion of Iraq, the world is divided by two: Muslims and Christians. If we look at the events from this perspective, isn't it wrong to release an English album now? You are both a Turkish and Muslim.
believe that when an event has to be happened,it happens at the right time. So, I say, this is the right time. Yes, I also thought such things.” You have been working for ten years and look at the time now.” But if I postponed it another two or more years, it wouldn't be right. Also, there are some people who think that it is the right time. They say that I give a message with my music and ideas. So, I think it's going to be good. Yes, I'm sure there will be some politic events. And some people will try to prevent it. They will call me as Muslim and Middle Asian but at the end, they will understand that we are all human beings.
With which musicians did you work? Are you satisfied with the album?
I worked with really good musicians, they are very successful in the music sector. Pete Martin from London, Lester Mendes from Los Angeles, Bill Mann from New York and Devrim Karaoglu from Turkey, etc…It was hard. But I'm really satisfied with it.
These musicians are the first foreigners who listened to the album. What did they say about it?
Well, the answer will be very subjective. How can I be objective about my own album? But, they told that they were really impressed. They found it very different and told that such an album hadn't made before. Moreover, they found it very dynamic. Also, it is very crucial for me that my English didn't disturb them. Cause, you know, when there is accent, people find it odd.
But a little bit accent will give you a different image, won't it?
There is accent. I tried to save it and not to sing as an American do. But it has a limit, of course. If you don't know English and just memorize the song, the audience will understand it. And that's why my album has lasted for ten years. Living there, learning and getting used to the daily spoken language is very crucial.
When we look at the new pop stars from all over the world, we see that they are under the age 30. You are 33 years old. Do you think that you are old for this sector?
Frankly, it is not important for me. Look at Madonna, she is in the top ten with her last album, and she is in the middle 40's. Eminem became famous when he was 30. I think, if your music is good, then your age is unimportant.
