We need to question the course of the Metaverse that will shape our future, and the dangers it may pose.
The Metaverse is a network of constantly open virtual environments in which many people can interact with each other and with digital objects through their virtual representations, namely their avatars. Metaverse; We can think of it as a combination of immersive virtual reality, multiplayer online role-playing game and the web. Metaverse has three main aspects. These; presence, interoperability and standardization.
Presence is the feeling of being in a virtual space with other individuals, of being embodied. The sense of embodiedness is known to improve the quality of online interactions. This sense of presence is achieved through virtual technologies such as head-mounted VR glasses. Interoperability is the ability to seamlessly travel between sandboxes with the same virtual assets, such as avatars and digital assets. Standardization is to ensure the interoperability of platforms and services in the metaverse.
As with all mass media technologies, from printing to messaging, common technological standards are required for widespread adoption of the metaverse. International organizations such as the Open Metaverse Interoperability Group define these standards.
