MARCUS HUMMON

MARCUS HUMMON (Songwriter - “Healing of a Heart”)
Singer-songwriter Marcus Hummon has been making waves in Nashville for more than a decade, creating hit songs for A-list artists including Wynonna, Tim McGraw, Bryan White and Alabama.  Hummon is one of Nashville's most consistently successful and innovative musicians, writing tunes with Mary Chapin Carpenter, SHeDAISY, Deana Carter and Martie Seidel. His work has also been recorded by Steve Wariner, Sara Evans and the Dixie Chicks.
With Dixie Chick Seidel, he co-wrote “Cowboy, Take Me Away” and “Ready To Run,” the first two singles from the Chicks' sophomore album, “Fly.” Both topped Billboard's Country Singles Chart. “Ready to Run,” featured in the Julia Roberts-Richard Gere romantic comedy “Runaway Bride,” netted Seidel and Hummon a 1999 Grammy nomination for Best Country Song. His co-written, “Born to Fly” perched Sara Evans on top of the charts, along the way garnering a CMA nomination for Song of the Year.
Hummon also has found time to record and release four critically albums as a solo artist: “All in Good Time,” “The Sound of One Fan Clapping,” “Looking for the Child” and “Supernatural.” His diverse career achievements include a published book of poetry and the lyrics for the PBS children's cartoon series, “Book of Virtues.” He has written three acclaimed musicals: “American Duet” (co-written with Bill Feehely), “Francis of Guernica” and the musical drama, “Warrior,” a work based on the life of Jim Thorpe, the great Native American athlete.
