Stres After all, this Valentine’s Day is quite different from Mother’s Day and Women’s Day. In short, there is a small number of people who know why this day exists, even if it is a warm celebration of Valentine’s Day.
Valentine’s Day is based on past pretty close to being in Turkey. Even until the end of the 70s, there was almost no one who knew about the existence of such a day. 1980 At the beginning of the need to start to be celebrated only sporadically, the spread in our country to say that simultaneous with the start of spring 1990 the first half of private radio… as a result of making the importance of private radio ripple in a short time and adventure arrived until today in Turkey Valentine’s Day…
Valentine’s Day, whose English name is Valentine’s Day, is the first celebration in the world until 14 February 1800 in the United States. So it has a history of 216 years there. It is known that a woman named Esther Howland started by sending a card to her lover. The tradition of celebration that begins with a postcard turns into a ceremonial, social event that people gather at a certain place in a short time. As a natural consequence of every social event, the commercial aspect has gained importance after a while. Valentine’s Day began in the United States innocent of the caravan as a behavior that we are going to recognize the more commercial size after 200 years we have participated in Turkey.
There is a legend about Valentine’s Day that dates back to ancient times. In the 3rd century AD, the Roman Emperor Cladius banned marriage because he wanted every man in the country to be a soldier. He also banned Christianity and issued a death warrant for all Christians. Among those who do not follow this order is Valentinus, who later became known as a saint. Because he was a Christian, he was arrested and imprisoned. One of the prison guards brings his sister Julia, who is blind to birth, believing in the miracles told among Christians. His only hope is to open his sister’s eyes.
Julia, a smart and beautiful girl, learns a lot about Roman history, nature and Christianity through her visits to Valentinus. Together they pray to God for days to open Julia’s eyes. Finally, the inside of the cell is lit with a golden light and Julia’s eyes begin to see. The next day, Valentinus’ death warrant arrives, Valentinus writes a final note to Julia, advises her to be always close to God, and signs the note from “Your Valentine altın. The letter reaches Julia the next day, the date of that day is 14 February 270.
According to another legend about ancient Rome, St. Valentine was a priest who lived in Rome during the reign of Claudius. Despite Claudius’ ban, he secretly marries couples with his pastor, Saint Marius. However, the emperor learned this after a while. Saint Valentine is arrested for continuing to marry people and beaten to death with a stick as punishment. He was buried in the Christian martyrdom on 14 February 270 AD. After 226 years, the Vatican gives Valentin the title of “saint ve and the day of St. Valentin’s death becomes known as Valentine’s Day. Because he’s always tried to marry his girlfriends.
In France and England, February 14 was traditionally known as the mating day of birds during the Middle Ages. Because of this feature of the day, valentine gave notes to each other, and they called each other Valentine.
On 14 February in ancient Rome, women were believed to fall in love with the first man they met and to marry within a year. On February 14, women would get up before sunrise and look through the window. This belief gradually became a social celebration.
Today, we see that Valentine’s Day has lost its innocence and turned into a capitalist marketing strategy. So that you can show your love gifts to be received, romantic comedy movies to be watched, even holidays are determined by big companies. It is necessary to spend money to do these conditions. The great poet Pablo Neruda describes this situation as “the total attack of capitalism on love and beloved ones kadar and says that he exploits the feeling of love from the biggest capitalists to the smallest middle-class tradesmen (such as florists, perfumers) in order to take part in this cake.
Let’s conclude with Pablo Neruda’s famous poem for lovers:
If your eyes didn’t have the color of the moon
and slime days, work and fever,
and the flexibility of the air you cannot catch,
If you weren’t amber,
and rising between the pipe flowers in autumn
if you weren’t that yellow moment
and struggling between the flour in the sky
If not for the bread of the moon,
I didn’t love you then, O my beloved!
