The producer of the John Wick franchise talks about Chapter 5

John Wick franchise. Although John Wick: Chapter 4 seemed to bring the end of the character played by Keanu Reeves and who gave the film its name, Lionsgate Films announced that the franchise would continue with the 5th episode. 59-year-old Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski were more cautious about the possibility of continuing Wick’s story.

While the duo admitted they were open to doing more movies, they weren’t sure how the character would return. Basil Iwanyk, producer of the John Wick series, made special statements to ScreenRant about the fifth movie. Iwanyk shared an optimistic update about the 5th movie, saying that he thinks it will be a very different story from its predecessors.

“A beautiful and elegant way to finish”

“What I love about the ending of John Wick 4 is that it ends the series beautifully and elegantly, if it means there won’t be another John Wick movie,” the producer said, adding:

“If there is going to be another John Wick movie, which I believe there will be, we don’t know what it will be yet, but I believe it. I feel like it’s going to be something else entirely. The next John Wick will be another chapter. There won’t be a story like six months after John Wick: Chapter 4.”

“We just don’t know what it is,” Basil Iwanyk said.

“But we all love spending time together and we love the process. As time goes on, we miss it more and more. As crazy as it sounds and as really difficult as it is, there’s something really exciting about making these movies. I don’t even mean talking to you and the box office. Just the editing, the preparation, I mean the casting. It’s so much fun.”

On the other hand, Ballerina, directed by Len Wiseman and starring Cuban-born actress Ana de Armas, is planned to be released on June 7, 2024. The movie will tell the story of an assassin woman taking revenge on her murdered family.
