We may not be able to change our fate in time travel

If we reach the stage where we can time travel, can we change our destiny? The answer to this question is always curious. The important point here is that we cannot change this, as the past, future and present are already written. For example, we cannot kill someone’s grandparents to prevent them from being born.

The fixed model corrects the everyday, “time is illusion” concept that people use to rationalize reality. Lee Smolin of Canada’s Environmental Measurement Institute at the University of Waterloo disagrees. Smolin thinks that the flow of time is a real and fundamental phenomenon. Lee Smolin says, “Time travel is actually not possible. If the past exists in the memories and records of the present, and the future will exist later, there is nowhere to go.”

The secret may be in quantum

Lee Smolin thinks that passing time is a real concept, not a human illusion. His colleague at the same institution, Neil Turok, the institute’s director, thinks there may be some vital answers in the strange world of quantum physics. Turok said, “This field of physics, on very small scales, breaks the classical rules of physics that we learn from school books. For example, in quantum, a particle can be in more than one place at the same time. That’s why I think it is possible to go back in time to a certain extent. Nothing is impossible in quantum. Particles form walls.” “It can pass through,” he says.

According to Neil Turok, time travel is a distant dream because no one has a reasonable explanation for how it can be done. However, Turok says, “No one should ever say never, because sooner or later someone smart will come along and tell you how to break the rules.”
