Toy Story movies and Pixar's technological evolution

Toy Story 4, which tells the story of an object made out of garbage, becomes a child’s best friend and the adventures of toys, was released on June 21st. The fourth film in the series, Toy Story 4, is a film that touches the audience emotionally and takes them to their childhood.

Toy Story is an animated series produced by Pixar Animation Studios in 1995, the first feature-length production by Pixar. Toy Story 2, the second film of the series, met with the audience in 1999, while Toy Story 3, the last film of the series, was released in 2010. Toy Story 3 showed the audience that Andy, the main hero of the story and the owner of the toys, said goodbye to Bonnie by giving her toys because she was going to college. However, with a trailer published in 2018, we learned that the sequel will be released in June 2019. Toy Story 4 was the first animation to be released on June 21, 2019 with a number one position two weeks in a row at the box-office charts.

The film goes back to the past, showing Bo’s farewell to Woody 9 years ago when Bo Peep and a few toys were taken to another child. In the fourth film of the series, we watch an object made out of garbage into a toy and become a child’s best friend. In the process of getting used to kindergarten, Bonnie builds and attaches to ‘Forky, gizli a well-known cowboy doll, Woody, who will become his playmate in secret efforts. The script of the film tries to give us the message, şey When we care about something or someone, it is important to us if it is meaningless and worthless ’.

Later in the film, Bonnie went on a vacation with her family and toys. During the holiday, Forky said that he felt like a garbage and couldn’t admit it was a toy, and he ran away from the car. Woody, who tells us that the owner of the toy is the most important thing for a toy, finds Forky and tries to bring him to Bonnie by telling him how to adopt a toy. So we move forward to the main points of the film.

‘Girls’ Toys Evolve to a Free Woman‘

Woody sees his old friend Bo Peep, who was given to another child 9 years ago and shown as a “girl toy”. Bo is a completely different character. In the first films, the character we watched as a princess; The princess made her skirt in a cloak and evolved into a free woman who could take care of herself.

New characters were added to the film, especially ‘Forky;; Gaby Gaby, a bit creepy looking Bensons, Keanu Reeves’s Canadian Duke Caboom, and plush toys that don’t play with him because the sound box is broken… The film shows Gaby Gaby and her puppet guards as bad characters at first, and then they’re still a favor. and Toy Story 4 continues its narration in other series of the series. The new events in the film, Bonnie’s not playing with Woody, brings a big change for Woody who misses Andy.

The psychological manipulation of the characters in the film, the adaptation of the newly added characters to the screenplay is well conveyed to the screen, but the toys we see in every adventure in the first 3 films are shown in very short sections of the film and the action we watched in the old films is somewhat lacking in this film. You also think that new characters, independent of the previous film, are not a totality of new events.

Technological Evolution of Pixar

Leaving aside the script of the film, if we look at the technological developments in animations; In 1995, the film was released in 2019 and there are big changes between the scenes. This can be described as the technological evolution of Pixar. When we compare the first and the last film, we can say that the last film looks almost real.

Like the previous films of the series, this film succeeded in the formation of new characters, creating an emotional connection between the character and the audience. The film tells how to handle the change that comes with time and how old habits can change. Toy Story 4, which is the weakest film with its script, although not much different from the other films of the series, has become a film that touches ‘old audiences çoğu in many of its scenes due to the connection it creates in the audience, leading to the old films and childhood of the series.
