Tagline: Adventure awaits in your own backyard.

Deep underground, the Minimoys are waiting... for a champion. Arthur's grandfather disappeared four years ago. All he left behind are his notebooks full of stories about little -- known African tribes-including the Minimoys, a miniature people who are all less than one inch tall. But the Minimoys can't possibly be real... can they?

Arthur is about to find out, as he uncovers a hidden message that catapults him on an adventure wilder than he had ever imagined. In just three days, he must find a way to the land of the Minimoys, recover a stolen treasure, battle an invading force of mosquito -- riding warriors, defeat an evil wizard, win the heart of a very independent princess (Madonna)-and somehow get back home again. It seems like an impossible task, but as he'll discover along the way, sometimes the littlest heroes can make the biggest difference. The film is adapted from a series of children's books written by Luc Besson.

10-year-old Arthur has a lot on his plate: a real estate developer is about to snap up his grandma's home... and there's no way Arthur's going to hang around for his parents or grandparents to sort out the problem. Maybe the solution lies in his grandpa's treasure, which is hidden somewhere on the "other side" in the land of the Minimoys. The creatures that inhabit this world are just a tenth of an inch tall and live in perfect harmony with their environment.

Arthur ventures into this world of the Minimoys, where he meets Princess Selenia and her brother Betameche. Together they set off to look for the treasure that will save his grandma. An action-packed adventure ensues, full of pitfalls and intrigues, all the way up to the forbidden city ruled by the evil M the Malicious. Arthur's journey in the Minimoys universe reveals that sometimes the smallest heroes make the biggest difference.

Atari to release a video game based on Luc Besson's Arthur and the Minimoys

Atari, Inc. continues to explore new worlds with the upcoming action-adventure game Arthur and the Minimoys. Directly inspired by world famous film director and writer Luc Besson's upcoming animated film of the same name, the Arthur and the Minimoys game will follow the film's storyline and feature eye-popping graphics and technical innovations. Set to time with the theatrical release of the movie in North America, Arthur and the Minimoys game is currently in development for PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, PSP (PlayStation Portable) system, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, and the Windows platform.

The game allows players to relive the fantastic adventure of young Arthur and his two pals, princess Selenia and her brother Betameche, in their mission to save the Minimoys' world from destruction. As they move through the various Minimoy lands, players will encounter extraordinary adventures, menacing enemies, rich environments and varying gameplay elements including driving, fighting, flying and puzzle solving. The game offers an intense enactment of Besson's magnificent adventure while incorporating the all of the richness and extraordinary visuals of the film.

"When you make a children's film, your primary intent is to introduce kids to a new world that is both fantastic and exciting. Atari's video game will keep the film's adventure alive by allowing players to step into the characters' shoes to explore and try to save the world of the Minimoys," said Luc Besson, Chairman of EuropaCorp.

Arthur and the Minimoys' unique and innovative structure revolves around the supportive co-op teamwork of the three characters, Arthur, Selenia and Betameche. Players can only progress by cleverly combining the three characters' skills -- Arthur is an acrobat, Selenia a warrior and Betameche a marksman. In solving mysteries and overcoming obstacles, players will realize that anything is possible when you work together.
