The Girl with the Whip movie storyline. Angelina, the illegitimate daughter of a smuggler killed by border guards, passes for a boy, with the complicity of her mother, with the intention of securing the inheritance of her deceased half-brother. But Calix surprises her and falls in love with her.

Angelina runs away from the boarding school for young people where her grandmother sent her and takes refuge with a gang of smugglers. During a nocturnal expedition, in which Calix could not prevent him from participating, a storm threatens their mountain village. Angelina manages to avert the danger by opening the floodgates of the dam and, recognized and forgiven by her grandmother, she marries Calix and obtains the inheritance.

The Girl with the Whip (French: La Fille au Fouet) is a 1952 Swiss drama film directed by Jean Dréville and starring Michel Simon, Gaby Morlay and Colette Darfeuil. It was shot at the Boulogne Studios in Paris. The film’s sets were designed by the art director Robert Dumesnil. A separate German version, The Secret of the Mountain Lake, was also made.
