The grand-daughter of Raj Kapoor had had to live up to sky-high expectations. When she first started out, they called her a plastic doll. They thought she looked too young to play mature roles. But she proved them all wrong with songs like Sarkaillo khatiya jada lage, Baby baby muzhe log bolen and Phoolen sa cheheran tera in Anari.
Then Raja Hindustani happened and soon Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hain bombed the screen and she proved she can act.
And with leads in Judwaa, Jeet, Hero No. 1, Coolie No. 1, Silsila Hai Pyar Kya and now Biwi No. 1 Karisma has managed to place herself amongst the best actresses of industry. And now after the release of Rajshri Productions' much hyped film Hum Saath Saath Hain she awaits the release of Jaanwar.

Her initial years were at Cathedral and John Connan High School in Fort. After she did her CBSE, she joined Sophi College for FYJC (Arts). Then she left.
