Eminem Appears in a Rap Documentary
Eminem and rap/hip hop fans have something amazing to look forward to this summer. An Ice-T produced documentary entitled Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap –that delves into the inner workings of rap/hip hop as well as its societal and cultural influences over the years– is set to be released in theaters across the country on June 15th. It is also scheduled to debut at this year’s Sundance festival.
Ice-T interviews notable rap acts in this documentary including of course Eminem, Nas and other legends. If you love rap or Eminem, there’s no reason why you wouldn’t dig this. This is a great piece of film making and it should give rap/hip hop junkies a more profound perspective of the musical genre that changed the world.
Eminem Remarries Ex-Wife Kim Mathers
Couple wed in an intimate ceremony in Rochester, Michigan, on Saturday.
Would the real Slim Shady please kiss the bride?
A month after telling a Detroit radio station he was back together with ex-wife Kim Mathers, Eminem remarried his high school sweetheart Saturday in an intimate ceremony at Meadow Brook Hall, a 110-room mansion located in Rochester, Michigan.
"Family and close friends were in attendance, including members of D12, 50 Cent, Obie Trice and members of G-Unit," Em's publicist, Dennis Dennehy said. The rapper's hype man, D12 rapper Proof, served as best man.
Eminem and Kim arrived by limousine as news helicopters flew above and paparazzi flocked around them. Dennehy said that New York DJ Lord Sear entertained at the reception as lobster tails and filet mignon were served. The couple will take their honeymoon later this year.
Eminem ended the couple's first marriage after two years in October 2001 (see "Eminem's Divorce From Kimberly Mathers Finalized"), and launched a legal fight for custody over their young daughter, Hailie Jade.
Kim, who has been the unflattering subject of violent songs like "Kim" on The Marshall Mathers LP, in which Em rapped about killing his wife, attempted suicide in the couple's home in 2000 following a hometown concert by the rapper at the Palace of Auburn Hills and was arrested on drug charges in 2003.
The rapper, 33, and his ex, 30, reconciled last year, before Em's announcement last month on WKQI-FM's "Mojo in the Morning".
11 injured in Eminem tour bus crash
ODESSA, Missouri (AP) -- A tour bus for rap star Eminem crashed and overturned after hitting two trucks on an interstate highway, police said. Eleven people were injured, including the star's DJ, bodyguard and a protege, the rapper Stat Quo.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, was not on the bus, publicist Dennis Dennehy said. His Anger Management Tour was expected to go as scheduled Thursday night in Denver.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the bus was traveling at a high rate of speed when it ran off the road Wednesday night to avoid a collision with a semitrailer, then swerved back onto the roadway and hit the truck.
The bus then hit another semitrailer and overturned. One of the truck drivers estimated the bus was traveling at 85-90 mph. An investigation was under way.
The crash occurred on Interstate 70 near Odessa, about 25 miles east of Kansas City. The bus was headed to Denver from Chicago, where the tour performed Monday night.
At least seven people from the tour were taken to the hospital; four others, including three on motorcycles, also went to the hospital, according to the highway patrol.
A 37-year-old motorcyclist was in serious condition; no information was released on his passenger, at the patient's request, authorities said. There were no other serious injuries.
Among those injured was Eminem's DJ Alan Maman, also know as Alchemist; the 27-year-old from New York City was listed in good condition Thursday.
Stanley Benton, 26, a rapper who goes by the name Stat Quo and is considered one of Eminem's proteges, was treated and released. He was scheduled to perform Thursday in the show, which features Eminem, 50 Cent, G-Unit, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz, D-12 and Obie Trice.
Eminem Tryst Imagined In New Pet Shop Boys Song
Eminem is the subject of a gay romantic fantasy in a new song by British synth-pop duo, the Pet Shop Boys. Titled "The Night I Fell In Love," the song is first-person fiction by Pet Shop Boys singer Neil Tennant--told from the point of view of a young man--about meeting the hip-hop star, being charmed by him, and then the pair becoming "secret lovers," the group's Chris Lowe tells the Calgary Sun.
Eminem has long angered the gay community with the homophobic lyrics in his songs. Lowe says that the openly gay Tennant wrote "The Night I Fell In Love" "to turn the tables on the rapper," the newspaper reports.
The track can be found on the Pet Shop Boys' latest album, Release, which arrives in the U.S. on April 23.
The Pet Shop Boys kick off a North American tour in support of the album in Miami on May 14.
