James Marsden (Arthur Lewis) recently wrapped production on director Rod Lurie's remake of the thriller "Straw Dogs,” opposite Kate Bosworth, set for a 2011 release. In the film, Marsden plays an L.A. screenwriter who relocates with his wife to her hometown in the deep South. Soon after their arrival, tensions build and a brewing conflict with locals becomes a threat to them both.
Marsden also recently completed the comedy "Death at a Funeral,” with Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Zoe Saldana and Luke Wilson, directed by Neil LaBute and set to debut in 2010. In the role of Saldana's character's boyfriend he finds himself a fish out of water at a family funeral after mistakenly taking the wrong drugs.
Most recently, Marsden starred alongside Katherine Heigl in the hit romantic comedy "27 Dresses.” In 2007, he received rave reviews for his acting and singing in the box-office smash "Enchanted,” opposite Susan Sarandon, Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, and as TV host Corny Collins in Adam Shankman's hit musical "Hairspray,” opposite John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Michelle Pfeiffer and Christopher Walken. Marsden was also seen with Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Brandon Routh and Frank Langella in Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns” as Richard White, a new rival for the affections of Lois Lane.
Marsden's diverse film credits include the role of Cyclops in the "X-Men” trilogy, the Nick Cassavetes romantic drama "The Notebook,” "Sex Drive,” "Disturbing Behavior,” "10th & Wolf” and "Sugar & Spice.”
Marsden currently resides in Nashville with his wife and two children.
