Deadline for Bitcoin spot ETF applications has been set

US market regulator SEC has set the deadline for spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications as December 29, 2023.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) met with representatives of seven companies that have filed spot Bitcoin ETF applications last week. According to the news in Reuters, the institution requested that the final changes be submitted by the end of next week for at least two applications.

Representatives of BlackRock, Grayscale, ARK Investments and 21 Shares companies also attended the meeting. Two executives who attended meetings with SEC officials stated that the institution could approve ETF applications in the first days of 2024.

The SEC must make its decision on ARK and the 21 Shares spot Bitcoin ETF proposal by January 10. The crypto market is waiting for the SEC to green light applications. Fox Business first reported the December 29 date.

The SEC remains wary of ETF applications due to investor safety and manipulation concerns. The institution rejected many ETF applications.

On the other hand, the crypto market started the new week with an increase. As of 10.45 am, Bitcoin is selling at $43,268, with an increase of 0.65 percent. Ethereum is changing hands at $2,282.
