Taylor Swift concert movie closed the weekend at #1

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the movie about Taylor Swift’s last major tour, earned $39 million on its opening day, marking the highest October opening gross ever. While the concert film thus got ahead of productions such as “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” ($37.4 million) and “Halloween” ($33 million), it missed by a small margin to take the throne of “Joker” ($39.3 million) at the top of this list.

While “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” rose to the top of the box office by increasing its weekend revenue to a total of 96 million dollars, “The Exorcist: Believer”, which changed its release date to avoid conflict with this movie, ranked second with 11 million dollars earned in its second week in theaters. Thus, the second-week revenue of the film, which received generally negative reviews, dropped by 58%.

“Paw Patrol: Super Movie”, which opened at the top of the American box office last week, fell to third place this weekend, earning $7 million. “Saw Garet Edwards’ original science fiction film “The Creator” completed the top five of the US Box Office list with $4.3 million.
