Disneyland, the pioneer of theme parks and Disneyland is celebrating its 64th anniversary this year. Celebration events are held on the first theme park located in Anaheim, California.
Opened in July 17, 1955, Disneyland consists of two major theme parks. Besides classic rides, it has different themes such as special effect areas, free fall sections. Located on an area of 650 acres, this park costed $17 million that time. Today, 14 million people visit the theme park every year, visitors leave 3 billion dollars a year.
After the birth of the Disneyland idea here, the larger was opened in 1965 as Walt Disney Land in Orlando following the death of founder Walt Disney. New Disneyland theme parks also opened in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Paris afterwards.
Since its opening, Disneyland has undergone expansions and major renovations, including the addition of New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country (now Critter Country) in 1972, Mickey’s Toontown in 1993, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019. Opened in 2001, Disney California Adventure Park was built on the site of Disneyland’s original parking lot.
