Metaverse perception. The world is changing and technology affects our lives more and more every day, even opening the door to new worlds for us. Metaverse is currently the most popular and strongest proof of this. Art, finance, gaming and shopping issues are being reshaped within this new universe. We examined participants’ perception, knowledge and experiences about Metaverse and NFT in the survey we conducted through the mobile research platform.
What kind of Metaverse do people think of?
63% of survey respondents have some opinions about the Metaverse, although they are not very sure. The rate of those who can confidently explain the Metaverse is only 21%.
Metaverse is mostly defined as “a universe where we can buy virtual land, build houses and live with a virtual character in a virtual copy of the real world.”
Metaverse is considered an exciting technological development (60%). Although the metaverse is generally thought positively, half of the participants think that the metaverse will affect the entire world order and human life.
We all know that technology and game companies are working to make the metaverse even more realistic. The rate of those who think that Metaverse is something that technology companies create to sell their new products and services is 53%.
There is no clear consensus among participants regarding purchasing virtual land in the Metaverse. While 28% of the participants do not think it is reliable, 23% consider it a good investment opportunity. And only 28% of participants say they can buy land in Metaverse. Women are not very interested in purchasing metaverse land (44%).
While 35% of the participants are positive about the idea of purchasing physical products in the real world from stores in the virtual universe (online shopping), 30% prefer stores in the physical world.
25% of the participants do not find it necessary to purchase from digital stores in the virtual universe. They state that they would prefer to use existing e-commerce sites and mobile applications.
Only 36% of participants state that they want to spend their personal time in the metaverse. The average amount of time they want to spare from their personal time is 3 hours a day.
What does NFT perception look like?
The Metaverse universe also brought NFTs into our lives. We followed NFTs sold at very high prices with interest. Then, many Turkish artists turned their works into NFTs.
42% of participants think that real art and NFT art are of the same value. While there is a tendency to see NFT as an investment tool, only 15% of participants are considering buying NFT works.
Participants express the danger of the metaverse as moving away from the real world (50%). Women find isolation from the real world (56%) and personal privacy (37%) more dangerous than men.
Change is very rapid. The future is exciting but also unsettling. Everything is moving so fast now. We will see together how much this new world will affect us both positively and negatively.
