Companies are wary of Generation Z

According to the survey results, one in every six employers is hesitant to hire employees from Generation Z. The recognition of young people as individuals who “demand their rights too much” and are “easily offended” causes employers to remain distant towards this generation. Additionally, more than half of employers state that Generation Z lacks a strong work ethic, lacks communication skills, and has difficulty dealing with feedback.

According to the news in Euronews; Holly Schroth, senior lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business, states that Generation Z focuses on extracurricular activities rather than gaining work experience at university, which creates “unrealistic expectations” in business life. “Gen Z doesn’t know how to interact socially with customers and co-workers or basic workplace etiquette,” says Schroth.

Schroth also points out that companies should provide comprehensive training when hiring new employees and the importance of managers acting as coaches.
