iPhone 16 to come with three AI features. After Google’s (good/bad) generative artificial intelligence experiments on Pixel phones, I think Apple has gone down the same path.
According to the news reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on various artificial intelligence features, possibly for use in the iPhone 16 hardware or the next version of iOS (perhaps both).
Finally, technology news leaker Revegnus stated that Apple is trying to make Siri ‘Apple’s most powerful artificial intelligence application’ for the next iPhone.
According to Gurman, one of the ongoing discussions within the company is how generative AI will be used: Will it be an on-device experience or cloud-based?
“The on-device strategy makes it difficult for Apple to update its technology and adapt to a rapidly changing industry,” Apple analyst said. “With this in mind, I wouldn’t be surprised if the company takes a combined approach, using the device for some AI features and the cloud for more advanced tasks.”
So which features will benefit from artificial intelligence? Let’s take a closer look.
These features aren’t as comprehensive or powerful as Google’s existing AI options on the Pixel. For example, Google lets you quickly create summaries of news articles and make Photoshop-like edits to photos with just your fingers.
Whether you like these features or not (and there are good reasons not to), they are more functional than the features Apple is said to be working on, that’s for sure.
Of course, as always, we’ll have to wait until WWDC 202 to get an idea of what Apple’s AI plans look like.
