X platform. US entrepreneur Elon Musk, who bought Twitter for 44 billion dollars last year and changed its name to “X platform”, has been saying for a long time that the only way to counter bots and fake accounts online is a payment system.
Elon Musk announced his new step with a tweet on his social media platform. Users who open new accounts in New Zealand and the Philippines are charged an annual fee of $1 under the name of the ‘Not A Bot’ program.
“New, unverified accounts will be required to sign up for a $1 annual subscription to be able to share and interact with other posts,” the tweet reads. “Existing users are not affected in this test. This new test was developed to strengthen our already successful efforts to reduce spam, manipulation of our platform, and bot activity while balancing platform accessibility with small fees. “It is not a for-profit thing,” he said.
