During the Venice Film Festival, Priscilla Presley talked at the press conference for Sofia Coppola’s film about her life with Elvis, aptly titled Priscilla.
She describes how the bond between her and her husband, Elvis, grew from the moment they met until his untimely death at the age of 42. She specifically mentioned that the age difference between her and Elvis was 10 years and that she was only 14 years old when they met. “People think ‘everything was sex’. No it wasn’t. “I never had sex with him during that time,” she said. “He was so kind, so gentle and so loving, but he also respected the fact that I was only 14. “Our thoughts were compatible and that was what our relationship was about.”
Elvis met Priscilla while serving in the US Army in Germany. Priscilla was the daughter of a US Air Force officer stationed there. “My parents had a hard time understanding why Elvis was so interested in me.” she continued. “Elvis was always pouring out his heart to me: his fears, his hopes, losing his mother – which he never, ever got over.” “And I was the one there to really listen to him and comfort him. That was really our bond.”
