For those who want to have a different holiday experience: Mongolia

Do not say what tourist activity can be in this desolate country where only two people fall per square kilometer, it is possible to do exciting things in the Mongolian land.

Mongolia is the dictionary definition of the country and desolation where I finally realized my dream. When I decided to leave, I had researched the visa as the first job. They do not want a visa to our passport. So you can stay up to 30 days. The visa issue is easily handled with a small form that you can fill in on the plane. You will prefer either Aeroflot or THY to fly to Mongolia. Aeroflot aircraft are made with Moscow transfer. THY has to transfer Bishkek…

Both take about 10 hours. This can increase according to the time you will spend in the transfer. We went to Moscow with Aeroflot, we were generally satisfied. The only international airport in the country is located in the capital, Ulanbaatar. This is a small airport… About 45 minutes from the city… Generally hotels and hostels provide airport service.

Our tour was an 8-day tour of Central Mongolia and Gobi Desert. In Central Mongolia there were places called Karakorum, Orhun Valley, Orhun Waterfall, Göktürk Inscriptions and Semi-Gobi. Orkhon valley and Orkun waterfall are enormous in terms of nature… We stayed only 1 night but it is a magnificent place to stay for 3-4 nights. The Göktürk Inscriptions are located 1 hour away from the city of Karakorum and can be reached through an asphalt road and also has a museum.

Original inscriptions are inside the museum… Replicas were made to the places where the inscriptions were found. There are both inscriptions and little things around the inscriptions in the museum. The place they call Semi-Gobi is a place with small sand dunes. It is very different with its landscape and nature … Green steps on the one hand, sand dunes on the other side.

In the Gobi desert, there are Bayanzag Hills, Khongoryn sand hill and Yolyn canyon. It is essential to stay in a hotel for one night to pass from Orhun Valley to the gobi desert. There is Ongii Monastery on the way. However, this monastery was destroyed during the communist revolution in the 1920s. Currently, only two buildings are standing… we stayed here for one night, then continued towards the Gobi Desert.

The Bayanzag Hills in the Gobi Desert, the hills that look red due to both their color and the sun’s hitting point… Large archaeological excavations were made here in time. Many dinosaur fossils have been smuggled to Europe. This is where you first feel the desert…

The Khongoryn Els dune is located northwest of the sand in the Gobi desert. Our guide said this place is 400 meters high. It takes about 1-1.5 hours to go up the hill. The view you see will be wonderful when you get out… I say it for those who are thinking of going. Do not wear shorts, remove the shoes on your feet, you will be more comfortable. The sand part of the Gobi Desert is about 10 km wide and 100 km long as the guide says. You will see some of this strip while coming from the north. It is great to wake up to a morning with sand dunes here in a tent…

Yolyn Canyon, on the border of the gobi desert, is a canyon about 1 km long, with water flowing between the slopes. Different colors emerge with vegetation and the sun hitting the mountains. In addition, we saw the places they call terelj park and white stupa. terelj park is a natural park very close to the huge statue of genghis khan, just east of the capital. As it is close to the capital, it is a bit more crowded than other places. A place with more green than most places in mongolia. there is a rock called turtle rock or praying lama rock here. The aryaval meditation monastery is also in this park.

white stupa, on the other hand, can be said that cappadocia has not yet been a fairy chimney. Because of their similarity to the stupas found in buddhist monasteries, they named it white stupa. And the capital city, Ulaanbaatar. 1/3 of the country’s population lives in the capital. The capital is built on a very large area, but the entire event in the capital revolves around a single street and around it. this street is peace avenue. Turkish embassy is on this street. it’s a long street. they do not have a place other than the tourist street that is parallel to this street.
