We have arranged our hotel from booking.com. The area around La Rambla was very expensive for 5 nights and the rooms were very small. We stayed at the Ayre Hotel Gran Via, very close to Plaça Espanya. The room width and comfort was fine. Transportation was very convenient, buses to the metro station and the airport were walking in 2 minutes. The only flaw of the room was facing the inner courtyard, we woke to the darkness every morning because the sun did not enter! I have no right to complain too, maybe they would change our room if we tell the reception but we did not say anything, we agreed to fate. The price of the room was 450 euro in total for 5 nights.
I would love to stay in the El Born area even if it is not on La Rambla, because we stuck there the most. Barcelonata or Bogatell regions can be preferred if I am going to have a sea-oriented holiday in summer. But it was great comfort that our hotel was only a short walk from the airport bus. For El Born or Barceloneta, you will have to take a suitcase or take a taxi in the side streets.
Public transport in Barcelona is highly developed. Metro tickets are also not expensive, when you buy a single ticket 2.15 euro, but we called T-10 more than 10 people can use cards from the boarding. The 10 boarding card was 10.30 euro.
