During the 2017 Spring Festival, Chinese tourists traveled to 130 countries and territories. During the week-long holiday as a result of revenue growth, paid leave, and simplification of visa procedures, the 10 most popular countries were listed as: Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, USA, France and Finland.
Yingke Travel, a China luxury tourism services provider, published the “2017 Spring Festival Tourist Report” on February 6. The report includes a comprehensive review of China’s tourism market, as well as features exhibited by Chinese tourists during the 2017 Spring Festival (Chinese Lunar New Year).
According to the report, a significant increase in tourism demand was recorded during the one-week holiday. The number of tourists and the amount of income increased and making travel spending during the Spring Festival became a trend. Thailand, Japan and South Korea were the top three overseas destinations for Chinese tourists. Another important development that was highlighted in this year’s report was the rapid increase in the number of those who prefer family tours abroad.
The largest increase in the number of tourists arriving in southern China was recorded in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in the northwest of the country. According to the Digital Center for National Tourism, Chinese tourists traveled 334 million throughout the country during the Chinese New Year holiday. Total tourism revenues increased by 15.9 percent to 423.3 billion yuan. In terms of the number of tourists and tourism revenues, Ningxia ranked first among all states. The number of tourists visiting Ningxia increased by 31.01 percent and tourism revenues increased by 43.47 percent.
