Christ the Redeemer Statue (A Must-Have in Rio Attractions List)
The famous Statue of Christ the Redeemer is on top of Mount Corcovado, 710 meters high, meaning humpback. This sculpture is considered one of the new seven wonders of the world. He spread his arms, his face to Jerusalem. If you don’t pose before you open your arms, 12 apostles come together and beat you (including Judas yes).
There are three alternatives to climb the hill where the statue is. I’m sorting from expensive to cheap.
Transportation by Train
The most preferred transportation option is train. Every 51 minutes (2016 price) you love the train that departs every half hour and takes a 20-minute journey. You reach the top among the greenery. Then you pay to enter the area where the Statue of Christ the Redeemer (24 Real in peak season, 12 Real in other periods).
Transportation by Minibus
You can reach the summit by taking the shuttle services departing from Copacabana or Flamingo area. The same tariff is paid to enter the sculpture section. Service costs 41 Real.
Transportation by Walk
If you have any health problems or if you are inadequate, do not do so. It requires a very steep climb that lasts 1.5-2 hours. In some places, you’re moving on with chains. Your walk starts from a park called Parque Laga. You print your name at the entrance in case something happens to you. I used this way to get out. I let go of my lung, but I looked up at the Statue of Jesus upstairs and I realized that it was worth it for a beer. You walk through the lush forest. There’s a lot of monkeys around. It’s a great route. When you reach the hill, you give the money you need to enter the sculpture section. No escape from him, unfortunately.
The view of the Statue of Jesus is also terrific. One side of the Atlantic Ocean, one side favelas, one side Maracana Stadium, one side forest. People admire the sights rather than the Statue of Christ the Redeemer.
