Dakota Fanrning turns. 18
Dakota Fanning has been in the public eye for more than a decade, but she only turns 18 today. The young star, who has acted alongside Hollywood heavyweights like Sean Penn, Tom Cruise, and Denzel Washington, has just finished filming her latest movie “Now is Good.”
In her latest movie, Dakota plays a terminally ill teenager who makes a list of things to do before she dies. Here’s the synopsis from the New York Times: “Given just a few months to live, Tessa (Dakota Fanning) compiles a list of ‘things to do before I die.’ Released from the constraints of normal conventions, Tessa seeks out new experiences to make her feel as alive as possible before she dies. Along the way, Tessa’s relationships with her parents and friends must all be resolved before her time runs out.”
Fanning may only be 18-years-old, but she’s already worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. The young star got her big break at the age of 7 when she starred with Sean Penn in “I Am Sam.”
After that she went on to work with Brittany Murphy in “Uptown Girls,” Denzel Washington in “Man on Fire,” Robert DeNiro in “Hide and Seek,” and Tom Cruise in “War of the Worlds.”
Fanning has moved on to edgier leading roles since then. She played a rape victim who finds solace in the music of Elvis Presley in “Hounddog,” and 70′s rock icon Cherie Currie in “The Runaways.”
