It sounds like Drew Barrymore’s happy to be a single lady. “If you’re 35 and single and it’s a choice, it feels fine,” the star told the August issue of ELLE. “So I didn’t settle with the wrong person yet. Big deal!”
However, Drew’s actions may speak louder than words. Her next film is the romantic comedy “Going The Distance,” in which she stars opposite Justin – her on-again, off-again boyfriend, who seems to be on again judging by the pair’s cuddly appearance at the 2010 GLAAD Media Awards in April as well as their red-carpet lip-lock at the Golden Globes in January.
But the two have kept quiet about their romantic status, with Drew, wearing a form-fitting black Calvin Klein dress on the mag’s cover, addressing other topics in the new interview.
“I don’t want to be vain or fearful, and I don’t think I’ll do anything [in terms of plastic surgery], but if I want to do something, I will,” Drew said of getting older. “From my perspective, there’s no reason to be afraid of aging, because if you age, you’re lucky! The alternative is death.”
The actor-producer-director added that film is still her focus. “I make movies. I have a passion,” Drew said. “Puppies and daisies don’t accomplish anything. That’s not me at all.”
We live in a world where change is a major player! And that change is rapid. It’s happening in and around us and makes life equally interesting and challenging. I have, over the past couple of months, noticed many interesting things that have arisen from this continuous change and some of it is definitely worth sharing.
1. Mobile-ites — A disease that has inflicted a large majority of the human population across all ages. The symptoms are fairly evident… constantly looking at phone, the itch to dial and to text… it’s endless.
2. Twitter-ia / Social, status OCD — This is a double whammy. A virus that is spreading very fast… originally internationally… but something that we, here in India, are definitely not immune to! This virus-cum-OCD takes over the brain completely and does not allow you to do anything unless you tweet about it or you obsessively and compulsively update your status across all social networking platforms on a minute to minute basis. Woke up… had coffee… driving… it’s raining… fought with boyfriend and then the cab driver… crying… dying and whining. Pls RT!
3. Seasonally sporty — As with the 4 seasons that bring their own brand of illnesses, the various sports today create seasonal illnesses that not only afflict the male but also some percentage of the female population. We just finished with the IPL viral and now it’s FIFA fever.
4. Beverage-a-holic — I can’t start my day without my “Caramel Macchiato with a double shot of espresso, decaf, with soy milk, extra foam and no sugar”! I also can’t make it through the day without two litres of special packaged Vitamin water! Let’s not forget the Monkey Leaf tea (tea leaves picked only by monkey’s in the highest regions of the Himalayas), energy plus plus drinks, diet versions of all beverages and the long list of healthy alternatives to everything mentioned above. We love our beverages and how!

Katrina Kaif is one of eight siblings, 7 girls and 1 boy, from a mother who is a Caucasian of British Nationality, and a father who was formerly from Kashmir, India, but who has since acquired British citizenship. Her mother is now re-settled in Chennai (formerly known as Madras), the Capital of the state of Tamil Nadu in India.
She spent subsequent years in Hawaii, and then in London, Britain, She started modeling accidentally when she was in Hawaii at the tender age of 14, when she was approached for a jewelry campaign. Thereafter she continued modeling in London.
Continuing to model was the reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie ‘Boom’ offered by none other than film-maker Kaizad Gustad.
She was flooded with modeling assignments the minute she set her foot on Indian soil, especially with her innocent expressive face, hour-glass figure, and drop-dead gorgeous looks.
Professionally she started off as a model with photographer Atul Kasbekar, and upon being accepted, she received offers from LG, Cola, Fevicol, Lakme, & Veet. It was the Lakme commercial that got her noticed. She retained Matrix as her Manager to accept work on her behalf and at the price she deserved.
Moving to different culture and country was not much of a culture shock for her, as she states that no matter where you come from, the bottom line is that everyone wants to be loved, respected, and cared for.
Despite of her positive attitude, she had been stereotyped as “Indian” by extreme right-wingers in Britain who made it clear that she did not quite fit-in with their “Blonde” Caucasian culture; while on the other hand in India itself she had been ranked as an ‘outsider’ very much like Sonia Gandhi.
Unlike other artistes from foreign lands, Katrina did not experience any difficulties in getting a visa nor of getting it extended in India.
Although linguistically challenged, Katrina puts on a bold face and states that other Bollywood artistes like Sridevi, who did not know Hindi, did get offers from Bollywood film-makers, and she is no different. She has taken Hindi and dancing lessons to fit in with the Bollywood culture. She likes to display a picture of her learning Kathak dancing where she used to dance 7 hours a day non-stop.
Adorned with soft gorgeous looks, she is not easily intimidated, but admits that she is very emotional, sensitive, and concerned about her privacy, Almost an incurable romantic, she prefers to wear comfortable non-revealing clothes when at home, hates to do her hair, and above all dislikes make-up. Admitting to being lonely in the beginning, but now has several friends who she can hang out with.
Although her first movie ‘Boom’ was panned by the critics and shunned by the audiences, two other Telugu movies ‘Malliswari’ and ‘Pidugu’ did get her noticed. She grossed 70 Lakh Rupees for ‘Malliswari’ – making her top the list of the highest paid actresses during a South Indian movie debut.
Not done with South Indian movies, she has been signed in a Tamil movie ‘Bheema’ opposite National Award Winner Vikram.
She has received decent reviews for her part in “Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya”, as well as a brief appearance in ‘Sarkar’.
Katrina had made Mumbai her base, didn’t mind singing and dancing around trees and as a result is now one of the biggest mega-stars, perhaps one of the highest paid female-lead actresses in Bollywood, and a crowd-puller whenever she makes an appearance for a live song and dance number.
So in your new campaign for Nakshatra diamonds, you look ridiculously stunning! Can you tell us more about the shoot?
Thank-you, it’s been a wonderful journey; we had an amazing time shooting the commercial. My dear friend Ahmed Khan was the choreographer, who was kind enough to help us out. We’ve tried our best. It’s an amazing concept, what we’re tried to do is to tie in the elements of astrology, seeing what diamonds and gems symbolize. We’ve gotten a wonderful response; hope the journey continues to be successful.
In the ad you play the goddess of luck. Are you really good luck?
(Laughs) I am so glad you brought that up. We are in no way incorporating that I am the goddess of luck. The ad represents a goddess of luck with elements of Astrology and gem energies and I am simply playing the character.
Are you really into Astrology?
I am not completely into it. However, it does excite me, when I meet someone who can read hands or who is into stars and numbers. It’s good to get a glimpse of what’s in store for you. I have met people who have sworn that certain gems have helped them a lot. I guess the energies that many of these gems contain when connected, they can change your life for the better.
So are diamonds really a girl’s best friend?
Diamonds symbolize security. They are forever. You can pass them on to the next generation and I think that’s the reason why diamonds are so special for almost all women, including myself.
Was the reason you decided to work for Nakshatra luck or so you could get some luck?
I find Nakshatra has beautiful collection, I am not the one who is too fond of loud jewelry, and Nakshatra completely suits my personality. I can connect with the designs rather comfortably. Besides this is the company that has done the best in the business. So why not opt for it? I am the kind of person who chooses my brands only if I use them or believe in them. I love the designs that Nakshatra offers. They have something for every occasion. I’ve heard them being the ambassador of this trade mark, has helped me as well as the company. Together we can continue to have a great partnership (smiles).
Was it scary to have to replace Aishwarya Rai?
Not really. It’s business and one needs to move on from time to time. I have no problems with Aishwarya, she did a great job being the brand ambassador to Nakshatra and now it’s my turn.
Did you consult anyone before taking up the Nakshatra offer?
No, I make my own decisions. As I said earlier, if I believe in something I will endorse it.
So why didn’t you go to any New Year’s parties this past year?
I did sign up for an event, but things in Mumbai got pretty out of control. Thus the event organizers and I decided to bail out on the event. Plus it doesn’t sound good to perform and party when the city is destructed to such an extent.
How do you feel about being voted the sexiest female in India this year?
It’s a great honor that I am appreciated by so many people. But honestly, I don’t find myself sexy. I have to thank my fans for their constant love and support. I just don’t know what else to say. Frankly I was quite overwhelmed with the title.
What’s it like working with Ranbir Kapoor in “Ooty”?
Ranbir is so fun to work with. We had a great time shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani” for about two months. It was a real stress buster for me, from the city life.
So everyone is dying to know more about the “slapping” incident!
I am going to get Ranbir for that. Actually I am quite accident prone. Ranbir poor thing missed his cue and slapped me really hard. My face was all puffed up and we had to cancel shooting for the day.
Was the film city accident next?
Oh gosh yes! (Blushes) I was shooting for Priyadharshi’s “Dhan Dhana Dhan” at film city. I had to shoot underwater. My leg got tangled under the water. Akki (Akshay Kumar) came to my rescue. I am taking my time to recover from it.
Is it true that Deepika Padukone visited the set of “Ooty” to spy on Ranbir and you who are supposedly having an affair?
An affair? Ha, that’s utter rubbish (sarcastically laughs it off). Deepika did visit us and we had some great times with her on set. This was the first time I got to spend so much time with her. I do not know of any problem that might have happened between the two, it’s their personal issue and I am no where a part of it.
Is it true that things are so bad with you and Salman Khan right now, that you didn’t even go to his birthday party?
It’s too personal to answer that. People know that I am not the kind of person to talk about my personal life. I just didn’t go to the birthday party because I had a leg injury a few weeks ago, and I kept myself isolated. My absence at his birthday was blown completely out of proportion. (Grins), if people want to believe rumors, well than I cannot do anything much about it, can I?
Is there any truth to the rumor that you and Zarine Khan supposedly went off on each other on the set of “Veer” when you were visiting?
(Looks down) I really don’t understand why people spread rumors like this. I went once to the set of Veer to meet Salman. I had my day off, and decided to just go on the set and meet Vipul as well. There’s nothing more to it. I have nothing against Zarina, she was doing her job. I was minding my own business and she was minding hers. I didn’t meet Salman on his birthday either, so this was a good opportunity to catch up with him as well.
Which are you looking more forward to “Dhan Dhana Dhan” or “Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani”?
“Dhan Dhana Dhan” has me and Akshay Kumar in it, which is something I look forward to, whereas me and Ranbir are together for the first in “Ajab Prem”, so I would love to know how that’s going to turn out to be. (Smiles)
On Friday night, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper went out to dinner in LA. What might have been a relatively innocuous outing — though it’s a surprising pairing, we’ll admit — got more interesting when Bradley rolled up on a motorcycle with Gaga on the bike behind him.
We last spotted Lady Gaga in Palm Springs in her bikini at the beginning of the month, while Bradley looked adorably smitten with Irina Shayk in NYC back in March. Luckily for us, the two converged for one mysterious nighttime adventure. Check out the pictures from their outing, and then find out everything we know about Gaga’s impending nuptials with Taylor Kinney.
She’s hot, she’s talented, and she’s one of the few people ever to use the word “laundry” in an album title. But what’s it really like being Shakira? As prepared to take a look at the Colombian queen, Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll sat down to talk fame, family, and the process of learning English. As the chat demonstrates, there’s much more to this young songwriter than meets the eye.
So what’s it really like being Shakira?
Shakira: Sometimes I feel that Shakira is an old woman trapped in the body of a 24-year-old girl. Sometimes I feel that there’s a baby inside me that hasn’t grown up yet. So Shakira can be a very confusing character!
Why do you think you’re like an old woman inside a young woman’s body?
Shakira: Sometimes I feel full of theories. I don’t necessarily go through the experience of something, because I’ve already decided what the results are going to be. I don’t go out too much at night. I don’t visit too many clubs. I like to go out sometimes and just observe how people behave.
The young star steps out at Coachella in a graphic two-piece swimsuit and a lacy mesh top.
Actress Emma Roberts steps out of her usual chic, good-girl wardrobe to don a see-through white mesh dress and just a bikini during the 2012 Coachella Music Festival. Less was more in the over 100-degree weather, and the 21-year-old Roberts took the opportunity to show her edgier side with the revealing, form-fitting ensemble.
Artists, celebrities, and tens of thousands of fans come from across the globe to attend the ultimate music crash course that is the Coachella Music Festival. Check out photos from this year’s massive, double weekend event to see the bands that played and the who’s who of concertgoers. Be sure to check back often for updates as the sonic insanity progresses.
The actress hawks an unexpected product in a racy Brazilian ad campaign.
“Transformers” star Megan Fox is the latest Hollywood celeb to make a little extra cash appearing in a foreign commercial. And surprise: This one isn’t even embarrassing! (Well, it’s definitely less embarrassing than, “Jonah Hex.”
Following the lead of fellow foreign pitchmen Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Aniston, Fox puts her sex appeal to work in this ad for Brazilian foreign-language school CCAA. A pair of teen boys wash up on a remote island after a plane crash, only to be greeted by the very alluring Ms. Fox. She welcomes them to “Megan Fox Island,” where clones of Megan frolic together in paradise. Every Brazilian boy’s dream, right?
But alas, the teens are stopped short when they can’t communicate with Megan — because they can’t speak English. (Guess she’s not interested in the international language of love.) Annoyed, the starlet banishes the boys back to the sea, where they arrive on another, less enticing island: Mike Tyson Island, where clones of the boxing champ (in a nice cameo) preside over a bleak, savage wasteland.
Scarlett Johansson makes a surprising admission about racy photos of her that surfaced online.
Scarlett Johansson is speaking out about her nude photo scandal in a surprisingly candid — and good-humored — interview with Vanity Fair. “I know my best angles,” says Johansson, who graces the magazine’s December cover. “They were sent to my husband (Ryan Reynolds). There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not like I was shooting a porno.” She adds: “Although there’s nothing wrong with that either.”
Last month, the FBI arrested the guy who leaked those private photos after hacking into Johansson’s phone. (The guy, 35-year-old Christopher Chaney of Jacksonville, Florida, also targeted Mila Kunis, Christina Aguilera and Vanessa Hudgens, among dozens of other starlets.)
After little more than two years of marriage, Johansson and Reynolds — aka “ScarJo and RyRy” — split up in November 2010. “I didn’t really know what to do with myself,” she says of the breakup. “It was such a strange time. There was nothing that was interesting to me. I had a very public separation. It was difficult. I felt very uncomfortable.”
After losing 100 pounds, the actress reveals how her weight gain affected her relationships.
Kirstie Alley is back on the market, and searching for a worthy suitor. “What I’m looking for is to be madly, deeply in love,” Alley tells People magazine. “For the first time in my life, I know exactly what I want in a man. I want someone who has my back, who is courageous and brave.”
The ever-blunt, newly svelte actress, who’s openly discussed her long dry spells — her last documented relationship was with her second husband, Parker Stevenson, and that ended in 1997 — adds: “I didn’t like the way I looked, and I didn’t want to have fat sex.”
Since adopting a healthier lifestyle and working a sweat on “Dancing With the Stars,” Alley has shed a whopping 100 pounds. It is hard to believe that she’s 60 years old!
