Tech Toys / Walkman Bean, Fly Pentop, Aqueon, Stresseraser, Zen Vision
If you have money to burn, you can also burn water
Walkman Bean
The Bean is Sony's entry into the "cool, Flash-based MP3 player" market. It connects to your computer via a pop-up USB jack, holds 512 MB or 1 GB worth of music and plays for 50 hours on one charge. We buy all that. But calling the bean shape an "innovative ergonomic design" is a bit of a stretch. MSRP: $179.95
Fly Pentop
This "pentop computer" is cool but hard to explain. Say you need a calculator but don't have one handy. Use the Fly to draw a calculator on a piece of paper, and now you can use the paper as a calculator. It's weird, but it works. Not only that, it's a contact manager, a drum set and more. You can also use the Fly for plain old writing, but what fun is that? MSRP: $99.99
Aqueon
This fireplace "burns" water through a little process known as electrolysis. Actually, it separates the hydrogen and oxygen in water, then burns the hydrogen, but it's more fun to say it burns water.
Just like it's more fun to call it the Aqueon than the "waterplace." MSRP: $49,900 (custom install, price varies)
Stresseraser
Modern life is so advanced that only technology can calm us down. Enter the StressEraser, which uses biofeedback "to quickly calm the body and mind, anytime, anywhere." Of course, the first time you'll need it is after you get the $400 bill for buying a StressEraser. MSRP: $399
Zen Vision
The portable Zen Vision is called a "media center" because you can use it for almost anything: to watch movies, play music, look at photos, listen to (and record!) FM radio, organize your personal information... you get the idea. We're even thinking of replacing our editor with one of these.
(Kidding!) MSRP: $399.99
