Female Star of Tomorrow: Abigail Breslin
Her fave food is pizza. She loves to shop at Abercrombie's. Her favorite book is "Anne of Green Gables." She is pretty good with a vacuum. And she "hates, hates, hates" math.
Breslin, 11, is so adorable that even the sea lions on her latest film, "Nim's Island," fell for her. "The sea lions come up to you and give you kisses," she reveals. "They smell like fish."
The animal-lover in Breslin, however, really prefers the big critters. "I collect elephants," she says. "Stuffed animals -- everything. My grandma gave me this ark that has elephants on it. It's hanging in my bedroom. I like to write poems about pets and stuff like that. And, at the moment, I'm making sock monkeys. I use different color buttons for the eyes. It looks good." Read Details

David Fincher to create new Heavy Metal
Paramount Pictures has signed on to create an animated film inspired by the 1970s sci-fi fantasy magazine "Heavy Metal", with director David Fincher on board.
According to Variety, Heavy Metal will be stamped by the erotic and violent storylines and images that remain the trademark of a magazine that debuted in the U.S. in 1977. The magazine introduced the works of American artists and writers such as Robert Silverberg, Harlan Ellison and H.R. Giger.
The film will consist of eight or nine individual animated segments, each of which will have a different director.
Fincher will direct one of the segments; Kevin Eastman, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator who is now owner and publisher of "Heavy Metal", will direct another. So will Tim Miller, whose Blur Studios will handle the animation for what is being conceived as an R-rated, adult-themed feature.

X-Files 2 wraps production in Vancouver
Principal photography for The X-Files 2 has just wrapped in Vancouver, and they held a press conference to talk about the film. According to National Post, star David Duchovny confirmed that they pulled a fast one on the media yet again.
Last week, photographs of Duchovny and co-star Gillian Anderson kissing found their way to the web. On Wednesday, Duchovny admitted to the trickery, simply saying, "We staged that." They previously fooled the media when werewolf photos appeared online, and were later proven to be staged as well.
The story is said to be a stand-alone movie that is unconnected to the series' original conspiracy plotline, and it takes place six years after the series' ending. However, that's about all they would divulge.
"We're not doing an exercise in nostalgia to appeal to the fans of the show," said co-writer and producer Frank Spotnitz. "We saw this as an opportunity to introduce the characters to people who may have been too young . . . It has a reason for being, even if there'd never been a television show before."

Fraser finds 3-D "Center of the Earth"
Brendan Fraser is looking to unearth another blockbuster with this summer's third installment of his "The Mummy" franchise.
But first, he's digging a bit deeper underground with "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D," a take on the Jules Verne science fiction classic updated with the latest in digital three-dimensional film technology.
The result is a thrill ride that has Fraser and his co-stars fighting carnivorous fish, sailing across an underground ocean, tearing down old mining rails like a roller-coaster ride and racing from a hungry dinosaur with the 3-D images floating off the screen and dangling right before viewers' eyes.
"I think it has the right combination of, when it's appropriate, treating the audience to coming-at-you, boo scares, but also taking advantage of the depth of field that was never really taken advantage of to my recollection in other 3-D films," Fraser, 39, said in an interview. Read Details
