A Bout de Souffle by Jean-Luc Godard (1960)

A Bout de Souffle (1960)

A bout de Souffle (1960), the first feature film by Jean-Luc Godard, considered to be one of the greatest directors of history by many film lovers, is a movie that divides the history of cinema into two before and after. The story they wrote together with Francois Truffaut, another prominent figure of the current, after long readings and watching, was actually the harbinger of the birth of modern cinema. Godard, who was completely different from his own works, blended realism with entertainment and placed the streets of Paris in focus.

This, in the beginning, was a pioneer for those who came after him. A cute thief, Michel Poiccard (Jean-Paul Belmando) killed a police officer at the end of the day he stole the car. Now there is only one way; it is to escape from Paris. New York lover Patricia Franchini (Jean Seberg), whom he met a while ago, dreams of going to Rome. At this point, two lovers, whose intersections were intersecting, would live on the one hand and try to name what happened between them. Dard bout de souffle, the movie that Godard aims to break all the stereotypes of the cinema and brings many innovations to the cinema, is considered as the movie that brings out the French New Wave Current. In other words; Godard frees the cinema with this movie.

Storyline

Michel Poiccard, an irresponsible sociopath and small-time thief, steals a car and impulsively murders the motorcycle policeman who pursues him. Now wanted by the authorities, he renews his relationship with Patricia Franchini, a hip American girl studying journalism at the Sorbonne, whom he had met in Nice a few weeks earlier.

Before leaving Paris, he plans to collect a debt from an underworld acquaintance and expects her to accompany him on his planned getaway to Italy. Even with his face in the local papers and media, Poiccard seems oblivious to the dragnet that is slowly closing around him as he recklessly pursues his love of American movies and libidinous interest in the beautiful American.
