Samantha Mackenzie (Katie Holmes) has fame and glamour, but she just wants what every college freshman wants: the opportunity to experience the world away from home and, most importantly, away from her parents. She just wants to be treated like anyone else. To be… normal. But it’s not going to be easy, because Sam’s home address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and her dad is John Mackenzie (Michael Keaton), the President of the United States. Now living thousands of miles away from the White House, Sam hopes that being out on her own means she’ll be free of the constraints of being the First Daughter.
