LONDON TRAVEL GUIDE

RUSSELL SQUARE
Tavistock Place

Tavistock Place

Proceeding one block north of Coram Street, and parallel to it, you'll next find Tavistock Place, which is somewhat quieter than Bernard or Coram Streets, and has two solid blocks of guest houses, of which the star is the Woburn (8 Tavistock Place), some of whose rooms overlook a garden full of lovely sycamore trees and pigeons. The hotel is spotlessly clean. You can go to half a dozen other places on Tavistock Place that have spacious breakfast rooms than does the Woburn: among them, the Avondale (next door to the Woburn), and the Goodwood, 38 Tavistock, a little less soigne than the Avondale, but quite satisfactory.
