LONDON TRAVEL GUIDE

RUSSELL SQUARE
Cartwright Gardens

George Hotel
Finally, an even quieter street in this neighborhood, facing a tree·lined, dead-end square on which are spotted tennis courts of the University of London, is Cartwright Gardens, on which there's a two-block crescent of handsome Nineteenth Century town houses.
The roomiest of these is the Harlingford; while nearby are two student favorites, The Terminus and Jenkins Hotel, the latter at 45 Cartwright Gardens. Not so highly recommended is the George Hotel, 59 Cartwright Gardens, but which has central heating in winter and grants reduced rates for children. To reach this street, turn right on Bernard Street as you emerge from the Russell Square subway exit, walk half-a-block to Marchmont Street, then straight up Marchmont Street for 3 blocks. At this point, Marchmont Street curves half-left and changes its name to Cartwright Gardens.
All bedrooms in the George Hotel have cable T.V. with free channels. The prices include a traditional English breakfast and tax. The only extra to pay for is the phone if you need to use it. George Hotel now has a computer with free internet access for guests.
