Clive Owen Interview 6
by Martyn Palmer
Q Was Beyond Borders a similar experience to King Arthur in that it was a very physical role?
A It was yeah, but different in a way. Physical in terms of travel and locations. But Arthur was much more physical in terms of sword fighting and horse riding. Arthur was more demanding really, just because you were physically more active. But it really was great fun, too. I wouldn't have missed it.
Q Any injuries filming King Arthur?
A Surprisingly not, actually (laughs). I'm amazed that I didn't at least come off the horse once. But no, surprisingly it was OK.
Q Did you have a break between finishing King Arthur and starting Closer?
A No, I went straight on to it and actually there was one point where I was getting a little worried if Arthur spread too much, but it was perfect in the end. I had a couple of weeks and on to Closer.
Q Quite a contrast I would imagine..
A (laughs) A huge contrast! But I like contrast. I feel very lucky because in this year I've got three films coming out and I don't think you could get three more different films and that's how I like it.
Q Is the third I'll Sleep When I'm Dead directed by Mike Hodges?
A Yes, the director I made Croupier with. Not the same character, different story, different script, but me doing another Mike Hodges movie which is great.
Q And what's next?
A To be honest with you, I'm taking a couple of months break and there's nothing on the horizon at the moment.
