M3GAN universe expands with erotic tension. Atomic Monster, the production company founded by James Wan, and Blumhouse, known for its horror films, are preparing to expand the M3GAN universe. According to Wan and Blum, who are producing the project, the two companies are actively working on SOULM8TE, a thriller that will expand the world of M3GAN.
From love robot to deadly soulmate. According to the film’s official synopsis, SOULM8TE follows a man who “acquires an artificially intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife.”
But while the grieving man tries to create a partner with real feelings for himself, he accidentally turns the harmless love robot into his deadly soulmate. The movie will be released on January 2, 2026. Kate Dolan, who shot the 2021 thriller You Are Not My Mother, will sit in the director’s chair of SOULM8TE.
The story of the film belongs to James Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Rafael Jordan. Dolan also rewrote the draft script written by Jordan. The project, which is stated to be in the erotic thriller genre, aims to revive the domestic thrillers of the 1990s with a modern and technological touch.
“I see this film as fundamentally an exploration of relationships and loneliness,” director Dolan said in a statement, adding: There are enduring human realities that we cannot escape, despite technological advances, and I can’t wait to dive into those depths.
M3GAN was about a robotics engineer working at a toy company who designed a robot for his 8-year-old niece Cady, who had recently lost her family. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw, the leading actors of the film that blends horror, thriller and science fiction genres, are returning for Megan 2 (M3GAN 2.0).
M3GAN 2 will be released on June 27, 2025.
